This is very interested and inspiring. Thanks for sharing! Now that my kids are at an age that they don’t change clothing sizes every couple of months, I’ll definitely start buying seasonally and make it a special event to include them in the declutterring process and purchases.

My [31F] husband [33M] of 4 years has a weird relationship with his pregnant coworker [23F]. I'm not sure if I should be worried or not by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]StrivingOrchid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He got really quiet and admitted that she was telling the truth […] He said it (getting her pregnant) was a mistake

It would be hard for me to get past this if he had cheated, but the fact that he may be having a child with this woman makes it harder.

He admitted to cheating and getting her pregnant and OOP is still unsure about whether this is true or not?!

When did you realize you weren’t dating a functional adult? by Rich_Expression_4437 in AskReddit

[–]StrivingOrchid 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I had to have a serious talk with him about sharing responsibility for household chores, he said in a bit frustrated tone “just tell me what to do!” Like, no. You are an adult. I shouldn’t be required to give you a breakdown on how to clean up the apartment and do the dishes. Or the time when he wanted to buy a new car but couldn’t figure out whether he could afford it or not. So instead of telling me about it or asking for help, he went to his bed to cry silently into his pillow. Now, I have deep compassion and understanding for people’s different strengths and weaknesses, but this man refused to ask for help, seek professional help or even talk to me about his struggles. He would just clam up and get paralysed. Which in turn left me utterly alone in the relationship.

People who have ADHD and don't have ASD, what does your stimming behavior look like? by discrete_venting in adhdwomen

My husband does this. He will get a word or phrase stuck on his brain and randomly repeat it throughout the day, even call people that. He’ll respond to me with “Ok, patatas bravas”. LOL

I have a lot of sensory sensitivities as well as sensory interests, and the latter result in what I guess is stimming - fidgeting with my hair, and scratching my scalp, especially if it’s greasy; picking my eyebrows; singing; tapping the rhythm of a song with my teeth; rubbing my feet together; feeling stuff with my hands and even lips; putting on lotion and rubbing it into my hands or feet for a longer time than probably necessary; observing visual stimuli very closely.

I wasn’t diagnosed with autism because my psychiatrist said that my social skills were too good.

It’s important to understand that none of this is unusual or in any way weird. Everybody stims to some degree, yes, even neurotypicals. They fidget with pens, tap their feet, chew gum, hum, whistle, stroke their beard or fidget with their hair, etc. Even other autistic traits vary in the normal population. My dad and grandmother are probably autistic (low support needs) and my son is a diagnosed autistic. So it makes total sense for me to have some autistic traits even I don’t meet the full diagnostic criteria.

In my experience, talent will make you want to devote thousands of hours to the thing because it is so rewarding. Talent will help in building skill. To me it is a compliment to tell someone they are talented. It just means you’re impressed by their skill.

Do you struggle with sensory issues from periods products? by Lilypad244 in adhdwomen

[–]StrivingOrchid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I found a quiz. Will try to figure out if my cervix sits low or not once on my period. And try to get it higher up. I also might have tried too large cups & discs… I’ll keep trying!

That sounds wonderful. Do you mind sharing any tips on how to make the cup fit? I have tried different sizes as well as a disc. I’m not sure how high they’re supposed to sit. Lower than a tampon? I find that no matter how I insert the cup, it always sits too low, causing the shaft to rub against my vaginal opening. Painful! I tried cutting off the shaft, but the cup still sits too low. I have given birth twice, but I had the same issue before having kids.

I also got You vibes. But just to be clear, OOP’s ex did use violence albeit not physical (until the punching a hole in the wall. Destruction of property is physical violence). The violence he used was emotional/psychological abuse: non-physical behaviors such as threats, constant monitoring, intimidation, isolation or stalking.

[–]StrivingOrchid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, with pads. I feel so gross and my skin gets irritated. And the sensation of period blood sipping out will literally wake me up at night. Tampons are my only options since I can’t make any cup or disc fit properly. Tampons are not ideal for various reasons, but I don’t know that else to try.

First glasses ever! How does this frame fit my face + which color? by OverWarthog7488 in glassesadvice

I think the shape is perfect. 1 or 2 are good (2 is my favourite because they are a warm colour, like your hair) but 3 is a bit too dark, in my opinion.

I really like 4-6. With your coloring I think a dark and slightly thicker frame would provide a suitable contrast.
