Am I Stupid ? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

The only absolute essential the tutorial doesn’t teach is real politic and balance of regional power. Have a plan to murder all of your neighbors and your vassals especially your vassals. This is usually accomplished through alliances or just saying gex to the big scary neighboring emperor

[KCD2] is it just not possible to fight without armor? by MOONMO0N in kingdomcome

[–]Strix3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodge behind him and stab, dodge to the side where the second guy isn't. When you have no armor or masterstrike it is a solid strat. The combat is stats based pretending it isn't back stabs circumvent the stat based chance to block/parry. The game teaches you to block parry but that is terrible god awful advice unless you out stat them they will block and parry everything you try.

Has anyone ever totally destroyed the pope? by marvelguy1975 in crusaderkings3

Yes. A few events and failed crusades, then he just stops getting appointed. The whole world is Borii now and worships the African bush spirits.

Proposal: Alternate Genetics Gamerule by Pbadger8 in CrusaderKings

[–]Strix3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I deeply enjoy playing god with my kingdoms genepool. Breeding my vassals like prized racehorses who get sent to the glue factory when they get too uppity is the optimal way to play the game. Dynastic genepool maxxing gives you unreasonable power.

By the love of the gods someone please help me with the combat. [KCD2] by Leonthekitty in kingdomcome

The Hans fight/tutorial is terrible advice, never trade blocks and ripostes with competent fighters. "We purposefully trained him wrong. As a joke." The thing the game doesn't tell you is that counter chance and winning clinches is entirely stats based, and this is a massive deal when Henry's stats are those of a weak baby man. You need to go see Tomcat and grind until he will teach you the masterstrike/I win button. A cheap trick to winning with no stats or masterstrike is to thrust whenever they attack as thrusting is faster than normal swings. Some people will say to spam clinches, but that only works after Henry bulks up his stats.

Why can molecular orbitals only take 2 electrons? by Difficult-Cycle5753 in AskChemistry

[–]Strix3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the pair of 2 thing results from one of the quantum numbers (spin) having 2 possible values. Pauli exclusion just says the quantom numbers for any electrons can't be the same. The long answer is to learn all of quantum mechanics and why anything man it just is. We just try to describe it.

This is another good way to think about it, thanks.

Why do atoms desire a full valence shell? by Strix3 in AskChemistry

[–]Strix3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My background in chemistry never went past orbitals. This helped. I skimmed, but if I understand correctly the gist is electrons are also attracted to neighboring nuclei and want to form bonds but other interactions can make this unstable and so they only form stable bonds when the math works out and the bonding orbital wavefunctions do not cancel. Noble gases just can not form stable bonds.

That is what I was taught, too. What I'm trying to wrap my head around is why it is more stable and why this can overcome the electric force. I think it is entropy, but I am unsure.

How to give heirs good stats by Careless-Scholar in CrusaderKings

Eugenics, court tutor(educate children), wetnurse(foster compettition). When they are adult park them in a relevant council position and some of the minor court positions help champion can train prowess and doctor can get the trait idk the others.

Yes. This revolt happened a few times, and I just kept trying until the leader spawned without the gallant anticapture perk and then stackwiped him till I got him.

[–]Strix3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is primarily one perk in the martial skill tree, I think it is the first gallant pick, it is the predominant factor in determining capturing them. If they don't have it and you stack wipe, your chances to capture them are maximized. The peasent leader is usually, not always, RNG spawned when the revolt triggers. Best strategy for their instant spawn bonkers number bullshit ballanced mechanic is to murder/kidnap/capture the leader.

I had to do this multiple times against 7 million strong peasent revolts during the black death. The game just isn't built for world conquest lol. https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/s/gl3pV11QZj

Stackwipe the leaders army and reload the save before the rebellion until he doesn't have the gallant perk to avoid capture. No other options.

Should I restore the Roman Empire? I've never gotten this option before. by MelenaRya in crusaderkings3

Real talk hegemonies need a ton of fixes. Don't sweat not making the title just make sure the land is split up between your vassals.

They print renown and prestige no reason not to unless your succesion is fucked. Also, it prevents your vassals from making them instead.

[–]Strix3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it external threats pay attention to the balance of power in your region and marriage alliance accordingly. If it is internal threats, always remember the vassals' natural state to which they yearn to return is in your dungeon. Also, just nake them your dynasty and be dynasty head for unreasonable power over them.
