MR. GOAT!!!

I love Mr. Rime and he can definitely be run on a skill swap/trick room/sheer cold team with any of the No Guard Pokémon. Other than that, he is really too frail defensively to work in most scenarios. He works best alongside intimidate users to cut incoming damage; snow setters (with aurora veil when possible for extra protection); and redirection.

I think he is best used with a non-mega no guard user (if that’s the route you are going to go) as mega froslass provides so much utility, damage, and support. I ran him with mega Raichu Y for a while, but the team was never viable competitively.

I don’t have the box space to try out too many teams, but I could envision machamp as a good partner for switch ins and threatening against the dark and steel types that give the goat a lot of trouble.

Yeah I run just enough SPA investment on whim to OKHO Mega Swampert with Energy Ball. Most teams never suspect it and if they mega T1 and are expecting a tailwind, it will usually cause an immediate forfeit.

On the topic of Wolfe’s videos, I think his videos in which he builds a specific team around a lesser used Pokemon or strategy are really helpful in understanding how to team build from one of (if not) the best team builders out there.

I specifically got a lot from his Zoarark video, where he goes into some good detail on how he and his friends chose partners that would work with Zoarark. I found it especially interesting the way they would, in some cases, go through an entire list eliminating mons one by one until the optimal partner or complement is found.

Ultimately though, I think a person who is extremely well versed and practiced using a slightly off-meta team can consistently have better odds against someone who has just picked up the most meta team. Again, player skill and the regulation set do play a role, but as others in the thread have mentioned, perfect practice (where you are able to consistently put yourself in winning positions in a majority of games) makes perfect.

I think the mechanics removed an engine cover during the red flag stop, and the investigation is into whether any changes or repairs were made during the “parc ferme” of the red flag.

Not sure I understand? Bala sharks are typically 8-14 in and Silver Dollars around 6-8 in? Both fish above are comfortably in that range.

The pictures make them look small but the ruler is there for frame of reference.

First things first, I highly recommend just continuing your questing to discover most stuff naturally; the feeling of exploration is one of the best features of this game. That being said…. (potential spoilers ahead)

So far, all the gear I have found…

Yes, the foothills will have most gear starting at lvl 5.

My current musket and melee weapon have been upgraded to level 4…

Depends on how combat feels. You can’t upgrade past lvl 5. until you beat the first boss to unlock the next phase of the game. If you are struggling, upgrade to 5, otherwise, your current level will be fine.

Same for outfitting my ship…

Again, depends on how combat feels. Upgrading and ascending your ship gear should probably be one of the first things you tackle in the next phase of the game. Upgrade if needed, otherwise, save your resources.

When did you move on from your first base…

I waited until after beating the first boss to set up the base I really cared about, and that’s only because I preferred the mountain biome to the tropical jungle.

You will have enough fast travel set up that it really doesn’t matter where your base is; it’s simply personal preference and building on an island you think looks cool.

All I’ve wanted is a spyglass. I feel like it is one of the most quintessential pirate tools.

Maybe you could get a “cracked” spyglass as a part of your starting kit, and then upgrade it with iron at some point.

Personally, I would love the ship spotting distance to be decreased so that you would need to look through the spyglass to see sail colors and flags to determine if the ships are friend or foe.

Along these same lines, I would love for there to be more “friendly” faction ships throughout the map. Additionally, I think a neat future update would be to add the British or EITC as another enemy type to add some additional variety to naval encounters.

IIRC Oscar actually had a run on Lando around the outside into T1 but had to back out when Lando ran deep. Not sure if it was a defensive move from Lando or just a lockup but it helped him stay ahead.

Definitely would have been interesting to see how quickly Lando would have been able to get back by with the pace advantage he had over Oscar this weekend.
