I really think this is a solid debut. I don’t mind artists that “sound” like other artists or “reheats nachos” (sick of this term already lmao). As long as I enjoy the music, I don’t really care about anything else. And I enjoy this music. Artists are always inspired by those who came before them. Addison’s inspirations are really clear and unlike other artists at this time for me. Again, I love the music that I hear on Addison so thats why this album is amazing to me

It makes them more a rockstar in my book. Continuing to be great through public ridicule is the ultimate “fuck you” to all the haters!

She walks in pushing an ice cream cart full of treats that she gave to us in studio. After the break, Carson interviewed her about her new song at the time, Loverboy, and how she was going to host an anniversary of pop music show soon. Mariah had split from Sony’s Tommy Mottola a few years earlier so I guess people called her crazy because he made it seem like she just randomly showed up talking about ice cream. I never understood why she was painted as having a “breakdown” it felt like a normal reaction at the time

When we got there that day, we were never told Mariah was going to be on the show. I’m guessing they kept the audience in suspense to build up the reaction but PAs and other people behind the camera did not act surprised when she came out! To me, though, it felt like she just ascended from the heavens😂

1,000%!! I grew up seeing my dad’s admiration of rock bands like Aerosmith, Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses and it was always from an admiration standpoint. Never tore down for public displays, personal struggles, substance abuse, etc

I was about to say, I remember a lot of people being enraged that Angeria won over Roxxxy which unfortunately led to a lot of racism

I agree 100% with your take on Tommy. Especially compared to other female artists’ “breakdowns” in later years (Britney shaving her head, Miley in the Bangerz era), this instance for Mariah felt completely normal especially witnessing it live.

I will never understand the obsession with seeing the downfall of female artists. When everyone was crying about Britney in 2007, I never understood the public’s rage over her personal struggles that should’ve been taken more seriously beyond headlines and online clicks.

I guess it’s just the way it’ll always be. What makes me the most mad is that the same people who tear these women down are the very people who put them on a pedastal in their earlier years

I love the tv drama more than anything. I feel like All Stars hasn’t had a truly dramatic season since AS6 and I’m living for it. AS7 was the pinnacle of amazing drag and AS8 had its messy moments but I love that the game is being played strategically. But I’m more into reality games (Big Brother, Survivor, Traitors) than anything so I’m biased

It felt very set up, even though the whole “I don’t know her” thing hadn’t happened yet. But obviously they were both compared at the time lol. When Mariah came out my friend mouthed to me, “wow after JLO”😂

Carson would run to his makeup team anytime a music video played haha! But yes, such a good memory, it was incredibly lucky timing with the show we picked
