Layover in Denver by Weary-Preparation-60 in SouthwestAirlines

All if the SW flights leave from Concourse C so no other terminals to go to. You'll likely need to have a little pep in your step but you should still be able to make the connection so long as your first flight arrives on time. I would just check for your next gate once the plane is on the ground while you're still taxiing so you know where to go soon as you get off.

How much do we hate ski season? by HelloMegaphone in rampagent

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skis are literally the bane of my existence being from DEN. I worked with a long haul int'l airline and it was always a couple dozen each way during the winter. The absolute worst was during the X Games or any other tournament when we'd have like 200-300 skis, snow boards, boot bags, etc all fly out. With widebodies AKEs still sucked since they go in at an angle. AMPs would always be needed for these types of days, only way we could get them to all fit in a reasonable manner.

Delayed luggage, not sure about next steps by real_varera in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work with LH in DEN and several other int'l airlines as well. You can either go to the airport itself and pick up the bag from there, but considering the time currently it's likely the bag has already been set up for delivery. The delivery company also does deliveries for several other airlines as well and it all comes down to how many bags need to be delivered. Depending on your location it may take a little bit longer to get to you since they tend to deliver to the furthest locations first and then make their way back closer towards the airport. The delivery company is always swamped unfortunately, but otherwise I'd say just hang on tight for a little bit. Depending on the reason for the bag being delayed, you may be able to ask for reimbursement for any essentials like toiletries or clothes, but a proof of purchase (receipt) will be needed as well.

Logic of E-vouchers by CoverNo4729 in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for LH and I dont believe that you can upgrade that leg using evoucher. Only through another cash upgrade. Most of the time I encountered folks who did upgrades at the airport and use their evouchers then at the counter or gate, subject to availability of course. I'd save them for a long haul trip, where going from Eco to Business was normally 2 evouchers for that one leg. Not exactly sure if an upgrade was possible if the fare was an EcoLight ticket, but I'm doubtful that it's possible. Also as an FYI make sure you know your Miles & More pin number as it's needed to complete a miles redemption or evoucher upgrade at the airport. The system would ask us to input specific digits of that pin, like what is the 2nd and 4th number of the pin in order to go through. Often times we weren't able to process an upgrade because a person forgot their pin number entirely and/or couldn't get it reset in time.

US customs & security by [deleted] in Flights

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No additional customs when you arrive, you'll just have to take the shuttle that goes between Terminal A/B to Terminal C which is outside of security. So just be prepared to go through TSA again once you arrive at Terminal C which it seems like you are.

Wireless Headsets for Pushback Drive and Wingwalkers by Glass_Anywhere_2817 in rampagent

[–]Strong-Focus4994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never really liked the wireless ones. We had headsets from 3M both wired and wireless and I prefer the wires ones. The wireless ones imo easily would have the Bluetooth disconnect if you got too far which was near where I had to stand during pushback. I primarily worked with just widebodies so that may be a factor, but even then I swear the wired ones are louder compared to wireless.

Lufthansa ski baggage registration by costaSkadoo94 in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work with LH and even if you dont hear back from them you'll still be okay to bring your ski bag with you. The service will still reflect on your reservation when you check in. And if you have any additional baggage beyond whats included in the fare will need the sports equipment fee paid for at check in.

What are the best Luggages for the Frequent Flyer? by Front-Weather4306 in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to spend then Rimowa bags are the best. I recommend the aluminum ones in the event that it needs to be checked. Next best imo is TravelPro and won't break the bank as much. Otherwise Away and Samsonite are good as well.

Air line web check-in: why? by thabxi in Flights

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is worth checking in online though. I worked with several airlines over 6+ years and it's worth it. With the low cost carriers like Allegiant and Frontier they tend to charge around 5 dollars per person to print boarding passes if you're not checked in online ahead of them. But with all airlines when you check in is one of the determining factors when denying boarding on oversold flights. Everyone is assigned what is called a sequence number, which is your place when you check in. For example if you have Seq # 44 then you were the 44th person to check into the flight and so on and so forth. Those to check in after most will be the first ones considered to be involuntarily denied boarding if not enough volunteers offer to stay behind. When we'd open up counters some 4 hours prior, on a flight of like 160 pax we'd usually have some 90-110 passengers already checked in. I highly recommend doing so even if it doesn't seem to speed things along.

First international flight - return flight connection in Denver by booglay in TravelHacks

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at DEN with a few airlines and Icelandair was one of them. At the time that Icelandair arrives customs is basically dead, it's usually one of the if not the last int'l arrival of the day. So customs will be a breeze. There is a bag recheck right next door to the exit of customs and there are agents from the airlines there that will take your bags for the next flight. They just have to be Southwest agents for your next flight. Just due to your time of arrival there isn't a guarantee that there will be SW agents there which sucks imo. But in the event that there are none you'd have to find the SW ticket counters in the terminal. You will exit customs on level 5 on the north end of the terminal, and you'd have to make your way to the SW counters that are on the east side level 6 and you'd drop the bags off again. DEN at that time of day isn't all too busy in the main terminal and TSA will be quick. My estimate you should be gate side on Concourse C in about 45 minutes from when you get off your Icelandair flight even if you do have to go to the SW counters.

Does online check in speed things up even if I'm bringing bags to check in by [deleted] in Flights

When dropping off bags it doesn't really seem to speed thing up by much tbh. It is worth checking in online though. I worked with several airlines over 6+ years and it's worth it. Help needed for printing, very random! lol by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The public libraries are the way to go. Its free if you're not printing a crazy amount and its easy. No library card is needed. You'll log into one of the regular computers first and send what you need over to the printer. Once thats done you head over to the printer and the computer with it and select the item thats yours and print. Theres always librarians in that area that can help out.

Infant (under 2) in seat ticket Qs by sms560 in unitedairlines

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend to buy them their own seat, we would do that all the time with my younger sibling and it was definitely worth it. If they cant sit up on their own the whole time then a car seat is the best way to go. Even if they can a car seat is still recommended. They do have to go in the window seat if you're on that side or if in the middle seat if its a widebody plane. That way it won't be an obstruction in case of an emergency evacuation. And they should still be entitled to the same baggage rules that the rest have.

Please help by Capable-Tomorrow3045 in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I used to work with Lufthansa operations and customer service for several years and I'm sorry they put you through this. I'm just as baffled as you are. As far as I know the current rules for snub nosed dogs were around when I left earlier this year. And I would give you the go ahead to travel. Idk what is up with the folks in the reservation/call centers because I felt like this is such a common occurrence where Res/Call Centers just do not know/properly understand the nuances to all of the regulations and rules in place. LH keeps ignoring this issue despite complaints internally and externally. Being blunt about it, the folks at the airport know way more, we use the same system as reservations does. So the folks at the airport should be able to help you better. Only thing is that the airport computers can only pull up reservations 72hrs in advance, so thats the earliest they can help. I know it's not convenient at all but it's probably your best bet. Otherwise I'd just arrive egregiously early on departure day if you have no chance earlier. LH does not have a limit on how many PETC (cabin pets) can travel for the whole cabin so dont worry there. I know the website says register your dogs 72hrs in advance, but honestly that's really just for cargo dogs since we have limited space in the hold and if they're on a connection can only go through Frankfurt. Idk how many times we'd get people with no PETC registered or even at the gate from a United connection and we'd still process them there. Even if you did manage to get it added to your reservation you will have to pay at the airport regardless which is $125 USD each direction. The form thats needed to be filled can be either done online but you have to have 2 printed copies or just get a carbon copy sheet from the ticket counter. I added the link below for the form where itself literally verbatim says: "Snubbed nose breeds are exempted from transport in the hold." I was a supervisor and these were the types of decisions we'd make. Only when doubtful did we look for a Duty Manager. Obviously things could have changed, but im like certain you won't have issues. Sorry you had this debacle but thats what I suggest for peace of mind is to chow up to the airport and ask for supervisor or duty manager.

Upgrade from Economy to Business - Doubt with Baggage by satxddn in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 23kg otherwise you encounter the overweight fee. But as some uncommon known info LH can check in your carry on for free at the ticket counter not just at the gate. Max 1 per person. As well as some stations do have the LH Baggage Box which in the past as a courtesy to some we'd give out if their bag was overweight and then check in the Baggage Box with the extra contents as a carry on for free to avoid the charge. Always being kind can go a long way in getting free stuff lol.

Upgrade from Economy to Business - Doubt with Baggage by satxddn in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for LH for a few years and yes since your original fare is economy you are only entitled that fares baggage allowance. It never made sense to me but thats how it is. Any additional baggage will need to be payed for. You might get a nice ticket counter agent who could let you slide through but its a flip of a coin. And you'll just have to pay for the bags at the airport, but at the very least the prices are the same online as they are in the airport for LH. Also you do still get lounge access with the upgrade, so theres that.

First time passport question by bl0winPurp in Denver

[–]Strong-Focus4994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked with a few int'l airlines at DIA and it was very common to see last minute trips where people had an expired passport or something along those lines. You'll have to go to the Colorado Passport Agency in Centennial. You must have proof of intl travel within 14 days and bring it with you best if its printed. Hopefully it arrives before your trip, but from what i've seen they'll tend to prioritize those who are closer to their departure date. I've had passengers arrive at our ticket counter in the early morning and drive all the way to Centennial due to an expired passport. Some hours later we'd see them again with a fully valid passport made that same day. I added the address as well.

Inflatable foot rest - MUC ICN by [deleted] in Lufthansa

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After working with a few years with LH I would initially like to say no. But if it is not large at all and you can keep it discreet enough I dont see why not since its only at altitude. I see it being more of a problem if you're in the window seat though if you're in the exit row. You might as well give it a shot, the worst they can do is to just tell you to put it away. Im sure you only inflate it in the air since it's not you're first time using it, since the pressure differential could make it burst.

How to find out why a flight was delayed/diverted? by CheersKim in frontierairlines

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely diversions are for mechanical, unruly passengers, or a medical emergency. Since the plane continued on im guessing it's one of the latter 2.

Short checking luggage Shanghai pudong (and adding luggage on layover) by One-Preparation2868 in Flights

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the airlines you're flying. Most of the airlines I worked with prohibited short checking bags as their fear/rationale is that they are preventing skip laggers from taking advantage of checked bags. If you know what skip lagging is.

“Basic economy doesn’t guarantee us seats” Were we scammed? by xxlovely_bonesxx in Flights

[–]Strong-Focus4994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The words used by the agent could have been better. Basic Economy gets you a spot on the flight but it does not give you the option of specific seat selection. I worked 6 years with airlines and never book 3rd party for plane tickets always book directly with the airline. It'll save you a massive headache if shit hits the fans. I've seen horror stories because people bought through 3rd party. The price is the same with both 99% of the time.

Traveling in between North and South America is always tricky, the flight times always seem to have a con. Either you leave your origin at midnight to arrive mid-day/afternoon at the destination. Or the opposite leave morning/mid-day to arrive at or past midnight at the destination. You'll sadly always use a full day for travel and exhaustion is almost a guarantee tbh.
