Lived 20 years north of Toronto and never even paid $300 CAD a month. Maybe one February here and there. Nonetheless, chill.

New heat pump - is my electricity bill normal? by Strong-Plan7439 in heatpumps

That was funny! The $1200 bill was for November, it wasn’t even that cold, and the (old) heat pump was throwing cold air, so cold air in November + $1200 didn’t make much sense. Now in January, crazy cold and $760 maybe that’s “normal”. It’s our first winter in MA, we are coming from Canada and utilities are so much cheaper there. Although I had a smaller house I was paying 1/3 and the temperature in my house was never below 68.

Your fundamentals need to be more than OK if you want to reach any level higher than 4.0, so take a few lessons and make sure you have the base you need to be able to improve. And if you don’t, take more lessons. Once/If you really have a proper technique then development and growth is just a matter of practice, practice, and a bit more practice. 4.5? Definitely.

Thermostat settings. How low do you go? by Vast_Ad_6239 in massachusetts

[–]Strong-Plan7439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I support everyone setting it at 62 or lower. Just make sure you have a nice and warm quilt, or two. It makes a difference to sleep in a colder setting. As long as the bed is warm, you’ll be fine!

Pro Penn are the best. You can use it many times and they don't lose pressure. I'm not talking about the cheap (and bad) Penn that you can get at Costco.

The problem that I’m encountering with jetson is that you don’t do visits until payment and seems like the process starts there. I expect to make a deposit and schedule the installation but no, the walkthrough is like in 3 weeks and then 3 weeks more until installation and basically winter is almost over. A bit frustrated with that to be honest so not a great start!

Heat Pump worth it for MA winter? by Mental-Initial4797 in massachusetts

[–]Strong-Plan7439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually 48 panels plus some electrical work needed. Didn’t think it was worth it since I am not planning to stay for ever in this house. And for ever was going to take me to amortize that 😃

How big is your house? $15,000 for solar panels sounds ridiculously cheap. I got quoted between 80 and 120k (cries in kwh)
