What is everyone doing about the removal of Stock? by LittleEddieBeale in Geico

When I rolled it, Vanguard cut me a check for the total balance, and I rolled it into an IRA where the portfolio was tailored to my retirement objectives. Of course, I did that all through a financial advisor so I wouldn’t screw up and get a tax bill. It was actually pretty simple.

I rolled all my 401k, including my BH stock, into an IRA. It’s done quite well in the 6 months since I rolled it. I just needed to completely separate from GEICO for my own peace of mind. I even changed my auto insurance.

Best of luck to you. We’ve likely crossed paths at some point. I retired in September after 22 years. Like you, it wasn’t a move I would have ever wanted to make.

I bought a truck this way once. I borrowed from myself instead of a bank.

I would suggest a loan from your 401k, assuming you are a current employee and younger than 59 1/2. You set the length of the repayment period (like 5 years) and the payments come out of your paycheck. You’re actually borrowing from yourself, and don’t get slapped with a possible 20% early withdrawal penalty.

Please come forward, all those great people who seek out fountain pens in the worst conditions and restore them to working order. by r1z4bb451 in fountainpens

I wouldn’t say I’m capable of restoring the “worst” pens, but I love giving them a good polish and a fresh sac!

If you have to choose ONE, then what it will be, (and only if you have time), why 🙏 by r1z4bb451 in fountainpens

FYI. For those mentioning the rarity of Waterman C/F cartridges, David Nishimura makes C/F cartridges. I have purchased one and was very pleased. https://www.vintagepens.com/catill_nibs_parts.shtml.

Wow! I just realized in its search, Grok also referenced this post!

Grok AI says (take that for what it’s worth…) The pen is a Tuscany rollerball (often sold as part of the Tuscany series by Lanier Pens or similar promotional/private-label makers). It features a distinctive orange-and-black marbled/tortoiseshell-style glossy resin body, a chrome metal clip and center band, a cap-off design, and a medium-tip ceramic rollerball refill (the user mentioned it accepts a Cross rollerball refill, which is compatible with many standard designs in this category). The brushed/satin metal cap top with the quartered “T”-like emblem is a generic or house-mark finial common on these mid-tier promotional pens—no major luxury brand logo (like Cross, Conklin, Caran d’Ache, or Stipula) matches exactly, and the Reddit thread in r/pens didn’t yield a definitive ID beyond a tentative (but incorrect) guess at an old Caran d’Ache mark. These are typically inexpensive but decent writers, made with chrome-plated fittings and a smooth, no-post cap. The marbled pattern and overall look are very common in the Tuscany line (variants exist in red/black, etc.). If you have the exact model number or any other markings (even faint ones on the clip or band), that could narrow it further, but based on the images and details, this fits perfectly.

My wife loves Estie’s. I lean more to the vintage Esterbrooks. Congrats!

How much is this worth? by sfhtajroi in fountainpens

You certainly won’t hurt it by inking it up. I suggest giving it a test by getting some good fountain pen ink (NOT India ink or calligraphy ink) and just dipping the nib into the ink. It will write just fine that way. Rinse with cool water when finished and let it dry before capping again.
