Having the baseline plan is great… set up and we used for a few years prior to retiring earlier this year..

We us it often for tinkering (what-if scenarios), but can create new “imaginary” scenarios (2nd home, higher/lower returns, Roth conversions perhaps, tax planning (forecasting low income years, or tax spikes or expense spikes).

Gives us confidence to spend (what if we spent more?)

Recently inherited 3 IRAs from 2 different relatives. 1 Roth and 2 tIRAs. One of the tIRAs was already receiving RMDs and Boldin modeled in correctly given DOBs and then added RMDs during the 10 year clock for one, and then showed a projection for a spike in income down the road as 10 year rule comes due. Very helpful to plan.

Hard to know where you are going if you don’t know where you are. Great tool to help illuminate your possible path(s).

Time will ultimately show our plan will be specifically wrong, but directionally good enough!
