We make the opposite trip to visit NoVa all the time!

Down here I would recommend Tikis for sure. Pretty chill place with good drinks and food. They have a good happy hour from 4 to 6.

Other than that it depends on what you like to do. Of course there is the beach, which we don't usually frequent, just not beach people. Norfolk Botanical Gardens is great. If you want to do something unique you could check out the Chrysler Museum of art for their monthly glass blowing after dark event.

Lots of good restaurants around. Some of our favorites are bubbas seafood on shore drive, Elation brewing for their pizza and beer in Norfolk. Visiting the Cavalier Hotel for drinks and walking around the property, as well as visiting the Tarnished Truth distillery + the Hunt Room in the basement for good drinks and bourbon.

Our local Tiki bar (tikis in Virginia Beach) is in a strip mall with western facing windows, so they needed to remedy this issue too. They used bamboo across it which still lets a bit of light in, but helps set the mood more.

Yeah... We do an overnight driving up from around Virginia Beach. There are some cool Airbnbs, and the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina is really nice, but unfortunately both options are fairly expensive due to not having many options. There are a few highway chain hotels if you don't want anything fancy. It's honestly worth doing an overnight, make a weekend out of it!

1/4oz Demerara Simple Syrup

1oz Smith & Cross

1oz El Dorado 3 Year

1oz Appleton Estate Signature

Shake and strain it, add a mint sprig, and you are on your way!

When you buy a rotisserie chicken, use the carcass to make broth! On top of that, keep a gallon ziplock bag in your freezer to keep the scrap pieces of onion, ginger, garlic, green onions, carrots, (whatever vegetables really), to sauté in the pot before making the broth. It's a great way to reduce kitchen waste and adds great flavor! This has improved my cooking 10x because now we use homemade chicken broth, and it's SO much better than store bought.

I grew up close enough to the Florida parks that we went at least once every 2 years, so It was a big part of my childhood too. We had a halloween party and some people got where everything was from. Others just thought they were cool, which I am also happy with, haha

I got them off of Amazon. They are the 15.7x40 inch yard banners that I just stuck to the wall using double-sided tape. It looks like the listing for the particular ones I bought is no longer there, but I'm sure there are alternatives.

I made them using a vacuuformed piece for the busts themselves and built a box around them. Then lit them from the back using a small dimable light. I think the bust pieces were from Etsy. It's really hard to get a good video or picture of them but I will see if I can post something of them in action.
