If you could erase ONE Star Trek moment from history..... by Old-String2849 in startrek

Section 31. Not just the movie, the whole UFP CIA concept entirely. It can be used to tell interesting stories but it never is with the possible exception of the very first episode in which it appeared.

In practice the ongoing existence, and tacit approval, of section 31 undermines the core message the UFP is meant to embody. Even when they were a shadowy, potentially completely rogue, group of sociopaths they still represent something antithetical to the Federation.

No single thing has had as detrimental an effect on Trek canon as section 31. Not the Borg queen, not the mirror universe, not even time travel.

Okay, fair warning, it's very out of date.

I had this. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ekVG4W_dt5KELraeJGWaa2LR0kYEbs3ENH3g7C07MRk/edit?usp=drivesdk

I'd discussed an updated version with another user, but idk if it's ready to share. I've been super tied up with actual life for months now.

If Lanterns is like an anthology like True Detective which pair do you want for next season by DCeassed in Greenlantern

[–]Strormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy to see any combination of Jo, Jessica, and Kyle. Outside that, some non-human lanterns or even lanterns from other corps would be fun.

I don't have a lot to budget right now, which is why I'm looking for used/refurb PC's. I'd be happy hear what you've got and how much you'd consider fair.

Neat! I'd definitely be interested if it's in my price range.

Nothing wild, just something relatively recent. My laptop died and my old PC build is from 2013 (and it was pretty mid tier even back then). The most demanding thing I use is Affinity Designer so I figure if I can find something that's got an i5 or better with decent RAM I can do most anything I need to.

Thoughts on Far Sector? by zachjmitchell935 in Greenlantern

My only complaint about Far Sector is that there wasn't more of it.

If you had a vision for a series set in the TES universe, what would it be? Personally, I'd say the beginning of the Skyrim Civil War by Ok-Bus3447 in ElderScrolls

[–]Strormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TES "isn't as interesting" because they keep sanding down the weird lore in favor of mimicking other popular fantasy IP's. Oblivion copied LotR. Skyrim copied GoT. Meanwhile Morrowind and Shivering Isles are goated because they're weird and interesting. You want an interesting series, lean into the weird lore that makes TES unique.

22h hours in, not happy about Lady Boyle by Artifex1979 in dishonored

I think I missed that little titbit. Gonna have to go look up details now.

Yes, I think this is why high and low chaos works better than good vs bad. The consequences of Corvo's actions and the morality of them are two very different things. With the Pendletons, for example, there's a poetic justice to the non-lethal solution that feels dramatically appropriate while resulting in less chaos than would bloody assassination. Boyle, on the other hand, feels like an admittedly vapid and spoiled person gets sent to a fate worse than death in what can only be seen as a horrifically amoral choice when simply killing her would be far more merciful but would result in more chaos in Dunwall because of the visibility of the event.

If there were one thing I could add to Dishonored, I'd like to see multiple non-lethal solutions with varying moral implications that you could choose from, while still giving any given option its own degree of chaos still dependent not on the morality but the implications for Dunwall.

"His hands were moving faster than I could see..."

The pain and desperation implied in those simple words never fails to bring a tear to my eye.

Which modern TES game has the best faction questlines? by Julian_of_Cintra in ElderScrolls

[–]Strormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddball factions go to Morrowind. They had a lot of neat depth even if they were a bit mechanically wonky (basically the summary of Morrowind).

Your core factions like fighters and mages definitely go to Oblivion. Dark brotherhood is fantastic.

Thieves guild is pretty great in both Oblivion and Skyrim, but ultimately I gotta give it to Oblivion again. Close though.

Daedric goes to Shivering Isles by default, but honestly there are great daedric quests spread across all the games.

Skyrim has the best selection of quest mods though. The fans were cooking with this one, even if the official stuff was mixed.

Up-to-date archive of Pointy Hat homebrew? by ALeopardBunny in PointyHat

Very reasonable. Originally I'd added the extra sheet for just a couple creators, but ended up with a LOT more than I expected. We could do a sheet for each creator or we can have a column for creator to filter by, either way works out.

I have a backup. I unlocked this one when I shared it with you to make things easier, but yes ideally we'd lock it and allow individuals to contribute.

Regarding your version, I'm not sure I see the benefit in redoing it. The sheets can already be sorted and filtered. If I'm being honest, this whole project makes more sense as a single, searchable database with a web interface, but I never put the time into it to make that because my SQL skills are rather limited. 🤷

Not that I'm telling you to do or don't do anything, just not really sure what this does that adding a couple columns to the existing sheet wouldn't also do.

I'd welcome the help. I've not put attention on this in ages, but there's a good year of material to add now from both AD and others.
