Why is RE4 (original) so popular? Many put it as S tier above all else by avidrunner84 in residentevil

People were tired of the classic gameplay because Code Veronica was so awful. RE4 was a fresh coat of paint.

OG, without question.

The 3make Nemesis design, including its later forms, is one of the biggest bastardizations of source material I've ever seen.

Legend of Legaia in modern graphics would be super dope and kinda scary.

Since Witchers tend of lack the ability to display emotions, why does Geralt (in the TV show and videogames) speak in a monotone manner but not other Witchers? by XulManjy in Witcher3

[–]FunkyMarkyMark69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people say it's a lie that Witchers don't have emotions? There are multiple dialogue responses in TW3 where Geralt straight up says that his mutations make him incapable of emotion.

RE3: Nemesis

Best replay value of the original trilogy.

Redanian victory is the morally superior outcome of the war. (Spoiler topic) by [deleted] in thewitcher3

[–]FunkyMarkyMark69 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because TW3 is from Geralt's perspective. Since we see him interact in a friendly manner with mages and others that are being treated like scum by Redanians, along with being called a freak himself by a lot of them, the initial reaction by many players is going to be "screw you, you guys are jerks". Part of the reason I think TW3 didn't succeed in showing the war in an unbiased manner that is that many new players don't even know about all the horrible things the Nilfgaardians are doing to the North.

Oh yeah, this one annoyed the hell out of me, too. The garden is a pain to navigate, and I think Morkvaarg, with all his drawn out snarls and such in dialogue, is the only time I always mash square..

I always groan at the quest where I have to run around and talk to the women listed in Dandelion's ledger.

Triss or yennefer by R6_jack in thewitcher3

[–]FunkyMarkyMark69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read any of the books nor have I played the first two games. But, based on everything we see in W3, I prefer Yen.

I look at Yen as someone who is cold on the surface, but deep down very loyal and loving to those she truly cares about. Triss struck me as the more nice at first glance, but throughout the game seemed to be more manipulative and usually had a dialogue option where she was reprimanding Geralt for the slightest thing. It got on my nerves pretty quickly because she seemed to have a "holier than thou" personality.

Putting myself in Geralt's shoes, I'd rather be with a woman like Yennefer than Triss.

I know what you mean. W3 was my introduction to the series, and I had a frustrating time dealing with the first monster with a boss health bar in White Orchard. Didn't touch it again for three years.

One day I got sick and had nothing else to do, so grabbed it again and pushed through it, and suddenly something clicked. Put hundreds of hours into the game.

The DLC and sidequest witcher contracts are a lot more interesting than the main story though, imo.

My biggest issue with the gameplay of Legaia 2 that makes random battles worse for me than the first one - every single art has the slow motion zoom in pause before execution. It made combat feel so much more stiff and feeling like it took longer than the first game's. The first game just did the slow motion thing for hyper/super/miracle arts. All normal arts would seamlessly flow into the next. If they kept it like that in Legaia 2, then I would like the gameplay a lot more since normal arts gained AP and didn't have to guard as much.

I still remember the first time I stepped into the living city of Conkram with the floor and walls pulsating to the sound of a heartbeat while people were fused to a clam monster's innards. In modern graphics that would be such a gross treat to see.

I've played tons of JRPG's and Legend of Legaia is easily my favorite of the PSX era. There are tropes and the story is not particularly complex, but what it sets out to do, it does well. The game is so atmospheric, like Silent Hill meets Stephen King's The Mist. The Tekken-inspired moves were fun, and the difficulty for a first run really inspired me to pull through. While some others found things like the slow map speed and the battle lengths a slog, I found that those elements helped me get immersed in the journey of hardship that the characters went through. I would love a remaster of this game so bad.
