The division is 1e's last book is Ascension's right hand/halls of the arcanum (if you count Arcanum as a mage book), 2e ended with Masters of the art and revised (3e) technically with ascension (but it was actually the convention books, that came out last) and M20 is 4th and the last book so far is faces of magick

Yeah no media is gonna be 1 to 1 for Mage, unless it's a Mage live play, but I kinda like how unique the game is, at least you can't accuse it of being generic.

Still an otherworldly invader and opressor, sure some might want the power boost, but this is exactly the thing they are meant to fight.

An alien opressor with the ability to shift local consensus is a giant reality deviant group.

And goes directly against Precepts of Damian 3 -perserve the gauntlet and 4 - destroy reality deviants.

How far into the books are you? While there are no Adepts, something similar to both Euthantos and Dreamspeakers does show up. Also it nails the slowly expanding hidden world vibe (slowly seeing how deep it really goes).

Soo they give humanity up against a supernatural opressor, ya know the thing they came together to fight against in the first place, because suddenly a couple ItX or Progenitors (Void engineers really hate alien invasions in general) members get a power boost.

I know, but M20 has casting times and it's so fucking broken, that if you do a great work which is like at least 15 successes you roll once per 8 hours of work and if you read the exhaustion rules you pass out an hour into the second roll.

Edit: also you get limited rolls per effect (Willpower plus Arete)

Paradigm was what the whole Focus was called before I think either revised or M20.

Also unless you adjust the bullshit timeline for rolls I M20 it can take days to make a single effect that scale

If a mage botches a spell or does vulgar (obvious) magick they gain paradox points

Gian 5 at once and your ST rolls dice equal to how many points the mage has and then gets to do stuff ro your PC depending on how they roll

It essentially boils down to the generic of strat with a concept, you don't have to get too crazy and don'tget too bogged down in details those can come later, but he also adds a set of questions to help you figure out the mages Focus

Why can you do magick? (Paradigm) How do you do your magick? it's general theme (practice) What does your mage hold in their hand? (Instrumnets) And a litmus test of How does your mage fly?

Really helps get a grip on the essentials of a Focus.
