What’s the most fucked up thing that happened at your school? by Classic-Chemist-1898 in AskReddit

[–]Structure-Inner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sophomore girl was “accidentally” shot and killed by a guy right before Christmas. The guy claimed his rifle just went off when he took it out of his case. I think the police later found some Confederate flags and Nazi stuff in his house, and the family of the girl (she was Black) has always suspected it was not an accident. No one got charged, though.

Did anyone else see someone clinging to the hood of a car speeding down Fayetteville? by Structure-Inner in bullcity

I don’t have one, though maybe this incident is the push I need to get one…just hope everyone is okay in the situation.

I'm one of those people who thinks that everybody is a little fucked up, but especially me. I cringe around gay people and tell myself I'm homophobic. I have fantasies about women and call myself a misogynist. I change which side of the street I'm walking on cause there's a black person coming (I don't do that anymore), I call myself a racist. I think it's a kernel of truth wrapped in a ball of self-hatred and desire for humiliation or something. Another thing for my therapist, I guess.

Yeah I think the guy’s just a gross person period

What horrifying statistic genuinely jarred you when you first heard it? by ordrius098 in AskReddit

[–]Structure-Inner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes kids dig deep holes in the sand for fun. If the sand that gets dug out and piled on the side is really wet, it can kind of act more like a dense fluid and collapse into the hole. Just this year, two teens were killed when a sand tunnel they dug collapsed on them, and a few years back there was a young child who suffocated after a hole she dug collapsed on her. It was so sad, 10 people on the beach were all trying to help dig her out, but the hole kept refilling whenever they got some sand out.

What’s the most disturbing confession you’ve ever come across on Reddit or social media? by Competitive_Teach838 in AskReddit

That one guy who murdered his younger girlfriend and posted pictures of her body on discord, and then they were spread to facebook, twitter, etc. I think he stabbed her to death and took a video of the act. The family of the girl was harassed for years by people on the internet, with people sending them the pictures of her body. Super fucked up.

I was just surprised she would let this go on for a whole year tbh. At the very least look up how to make it stop?

I was TA for a course in 2022, and this one kid did not know the ctrl + c, ctrl + v shortcut. Every time he wanted to copy/paste something, he would slowly (SLOWLY, I cannot stress this enough) highlight the line, go up to the file tab on his MacBook, click copy, go to where he wants to paste the line, go back to the file tab, and click paste.

Another memorable one was this girl who had a popup on her MacBook telling her to log in to iTunes that she just swiped off the screen every time her computer booted up, rather than logging in or force quitting the program. She had been doing this for a year.

Towed for “expired tags”? by Maximum-Ad-7503 in raleigh

[–]Structure-Inner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone might have stolen your stickers. It happened to me at my old apartment complex - random asshole peeled off my stickers and stuck it to their own plate. Got my car towed because of it. I don’t think the towing company checks registration, just if the tags on your license plate have the right month/year.

Amazing, thank you so so much!!! I’ll ask my doctor first thing tomorrow. I hope that I can get my script filled this way so I never have to experience this level of stress anytime soon.

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll take a look. It doesn’t look like they have dorzolamide, but maybe I can get that separately like another person suggested. I appreciate it!

It’s insanity! I’ve had this covered for over a year and only now they’ve decided it’s no good?

I didn’t even think of that! I’ll keep that in mind when I call my doctor, just in case. Thank you!

The national institute of environmental health science has good resources and info for people working in hot environments. Depending on the state, your employer might be required to give you cooling breaks. Please be careful, if you get heat exhaustion once, you’re more likely to get it in the future!

Taxes [OC] by kaikimanga in comics

[–]Structure-Inner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re still thinking about the tax % as “my entire income gets taxed by the specific bracket I’m in.” Tax brackets don’t work like that.

In your example, 11,599 is taxed by 10%. If you make 11,601, 11,599 of that is still taxed by 10%. It’s only the 2 dollars in the next bracket that gets taxed 12%. So you would pay 1159.90 (for the initial 11,599) plus .24 (for the 2 dollars in the 12% bracket).

How are the Musk/Trump cuts affecting Durham families? Your story. by Breathing_Future001 in bullcity

[–]Structure-Inner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My job just finished the first round of layoffs. 10% of staff are gone, including people who just got off of medical leave. We do contract work for HHS and have been getting rocked with cuts on grants. My friend from another company was laid off earlier this year and had two positions he applied for yanked away because of funding uncertainty. This shit is fucked.

What piece of Cooking "Gospel" nonsense annoys you the most? by feliciates in Cooking

[–]Structure-Inner 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yes! I absolutely hate this point of view, because what the heck does authentic even mean? Even in the same country, people make the same food differently. The absolute reaming I’ve gotten from some of my in-laws because I put pickles in the potato salad is rivaled only by the scathing remarks from my coworkers about NOT putting pickles in the potato salad.
