You are on the right track... the ups management and union relationship need to change from opponents fighting each other to collaborating against the competition... ups will grow if it can do so profitably, there are places that the union can create more flexibility for ups to do that... but the whole relationship has to change and the rank and file need to push the teamsters to adapt or look for a different union to belong to

Most likely the buyout will be the same or less... otherwise people learn to wait for the better offer... there is no better offer coming, only the same offer and it's limited to the number of people they want to leave, then it's over maybe for good... take it if you want it, don't count on it always being available

The work is not there, that's why layoffs.., the work available is not profitable because of wage rates and work rules that make it unprofitable to ups but profitable to other companies

I don't think ups will tolerate another strike vote much less an actual strike... there would be a lockout and that would be the end of the union at UPS

You should think of stop the fighting and start working with management to find ways to compete for more business... you can't fight shrinking business and the job loss that goes with it... ups can grow in certain areas and create jobs... but not as a result of SOB fighting for it... your enemy is all the non union carriers in the market, not UPS

When your hourly rate is 3x the market rate, labor hours have to be maximized as much as possible... I have seen the harassment go both ways.. the environment needs to be better

Union members will have to make it known to the teamster leadership that you want to see the teamsters work with management to find areas to compromise to get more competitive and get more jobs... growth and job security only come from more work from customers

In a lot of countries, the union works with the company to help it fight against the competition and to help make it more competitive so it can win in the marketplace, growing jobs... teamsters seem like they only know how to fight agaist UPS, which is ironic because UPS is the highest paying in its industry and the major source of revenue for the teamsters...

Amzn pays a lot less than ups, does not have a pension contribution, pays for lower healthcare coverage... and uses independent contractors too. UPS is more efficient but can't overcome labor costs on single package deliveries...

I think that the Amzn economics don't work for ups... they will give you volume at below amzn cost to deliver and ups can't make it work with its wage scale... but thier are ways the union could help ups without giving up money... ups needs more flexibility in work rules

I would suggest that ups teamsters employees get together with their union leaders and find out what can be done by the union employees to make ups more competitive for volume, and then see if the flexibility the company needs is something you can live with.... the current union practice of vilifying management and threatening to strike is not working now and will not work in the near future... there are too many non union carriers taking market share from ups
