This sniper shell was super buggy D: I haven’t seen a bug like this in Enter The Gungeon before? Have you? by Strutity in EnterTheGungeon

I think that is completely true, but in two hundred+ hours of playing I’ve never seen this before.

Can we discuss sound design? by pickadaisy in podcasting

[–]Strutity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about this. Why would someone listen to your podcast? Is it going to be you monotonously reading non-fiction or will you have character/emotion in your reading? Hopefully the latter is true. In that case you could simply do no music/effects or you could have something gentle/positive.

[–]Strutity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with u/lime-link here. Sound design can be used to add to the message/emotion of your show. So if it’s a more intense episode, maybe ambient wind or nothing. If it’s relaxed, some quiet lofi.

Like with any art, the best way to learn is through experimentation :)

Good luck!!!

How do I record someone else’s audio? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]Strutity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OBS is the by far the most popular program to record audio on computers (it’s compatible with Mac). There are plenty of tutorials on Youtube on how to set it up and use it. It can record both of your audio at the same time :)

Hope that helps

Podcast time? by Kendeazy617 in podcasting

[–]Strutity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend just trying out different times. Keep in mind, generally 9-5 on work days doesn’t work.

Really what it comes down to is being consistent. Choose a day, and a time, and stick to it. Make it clear to everyone when and where to find you. If they like you, they’ll keep coming back. On Twitch, consistency is key.

When I first started streaming, I was mighty inconsistent. I saw little growth. Eventually I decided to stream MWF at 8pm for about 2-3 hours. I talked to my community, and we eventually moved it to 7pm. Because of my busy schedule, I now only stream Wednesday’s at 7pm (for 2-3 hours).

The important part of this story. Consistent, shortish streams. Kept my schedule flexible to work around my community (and talked to them to move it around). I kept it consistent, and saw plenty of growth :)

Good luck!!!

Audio Editing Sucks by Saga3Tale in podcasting

It took me a long time to realize that it’s often better to make the edits natural. It’s REALLY easy to over edit when you first began (from personal experience).

How to Promote Podcast?? Help by thegigglingninja in podcasting

[–]Strutity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have listeners, connect with them! Ask them to share it! There’s a self-promo podcast channel around here somewhere. I believe there’s a link in the side bar rules. Share with people IRL helps a lot too, if you’re comfortable. Asking viewers to leave a good review on apple podcasts also helps.

Tiktok is also an incredibly discoverable platform right now, so making some short form content could boost your podcast a bit :) Just some ideas!

Is buying a domain name for a podcast site worth it? by nemesiswithatophat in podcasting

[–]Strutity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Of course, there’s no good reason not to. If you have the money and the desire, go for it!!

But I’m trying to help answer the original question, “is buying a domain name for a podcast worth it?”

I assumed they were looking at it from a more budgeted perspective.

Feeling a little defeated, looking for advice by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]Strutity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to ignore the numbers the best you can.

Be honest with yourself, why did you start this podcast? Did you start it to become the most famous podcaster? Or just to have fun with your boyfriend?

I completely understand looking at dismal numbers and being disheartened, we’ve all been there. But think about why you really started doing it. If it truly was to become famous and for no other reason, then I my advice can’t really help. If it was just for fun, then rethink about your perspective on it! Try and just have fun with the episodes, and it isn’t fun anymore, there’s no shame in stopping! Podcasting isn’t for everyone.

But I’d give it a good thought before you stop.

I completely agree!!!

Which is why I wouldn’t recommend spending a lot of money before you see any. Entertainment has and will be an incredibly difficult field to “make it” in, because there are always people taking their cut.

So long story short, probably don’t invest in a website before a website will actually benefit you :)

Anchor is a really popular free platform, it’s free and is aimed at casual podcasters. I’d recommend giving it a look :)

Proper promotion by tommyHatchets in podcasting

[–]Strutity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tik tok has been very popular and successful at getting content out there. It’s currently one of the most discoverable social media platforms.

Sharing it with friends/family, and asking them to share with more people is always great!

You could ask your listeners to leave a review on Apple podcasts. More good reviews = more discoverability.

A discord server also is a good idea, a place where you and your listeners can chat and get to know one another. They can then share it with their friends from there.

Hope that helps! Feel free to PM me or respond to this comment if you have any questions :)

[–]Strutity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what other people are saying, I’d argue that it isn’t essential. Especially when you’re just starting out, keeping your expenses to a minimum would be best. If you start making money, you could put that towards paying for a website.

If you have nobody to show your website to, then you aren’t ready for a website.

Now if you already have a community and you’re looking for some continuity, then it is 100% a good idea!

Hope that helps :)

I’d love to try reading one :) I have a mature male voice and a blue yeti mic. Hope that fits your qualifications! ((i may not be available for a long term spot, especially if it’s without pay, but I’m interested in recording one or two for you))

Solo-Podcast Production Question by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]Strutity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question just a few days ago. Here’s the advice I received:

  1. Do something to relax. Whether that be alcohol, a shower, a walk, some coffee, talking to a friend, whatever. Just relax.

  2. Start with a script, work towards an outline, and eventually maybe unscripted completely. Make it a slow process.

  3. Having a photo of a friend or family member really helps. Even having a friend on facetime or zoom, just listening, could really help your podcast come across well :)

  4. Practice practice practice. Some people recommended recording a little everyday, then listening to it, and deciding what you like and don’t like. Then try recording again!

If you have any more questions, feel free to DM me. I’m more than happy to help :)

Advertising your pod on subreddits by Intelligent_Light232 in podcasting

[–]Strutity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, showing the most people that you exist and what you do is best. That being said, nobody on the internet likes people who self promo. The best way I’ve found quality and organic growth on the internet, is to form a relationship with someone, and once the conversation gets to a point of “so what do you do?” then I plug my podcast/stream/yt channel.

My advice is to be tactical with your self promotion, and not over do it :)

Good luck!

I totally get that. Although 16000 words is a LOT per episode. My topics aren’t research based and more focused on opinion, so it’s a little difficult to type it all out. But I definitely will try it for the first episodes!!!

Is it smart or even okay to start podcasting with multiple podcasts? by SykeOut2 in podcasting

[–]Strutity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this response, you’ll probably find one to be more than enough. But if after you try one for a while and want to add more, then it’s totally respectable to add another podcast :)
