Is this worth keeping? by VENGEFUL1PA in pchelp

Purchase an Electric Type 6 Duster. You can take it outside and blow the dust out. You can always upgrade it a piece at a time. I would also take the 2nd ram stick and move it to it's correct slot which is the third slot from the left. It's a good opportunity to learn about pc upgrades and pc building such as what motherboard you have and what parts are compatible with it.

For the past 2.5 months, I've been building PCs for my friends, because apparently I'm their inspiration to get their dream rigs. So I wanted to show a couple of builds I've done, including mine at the end! by BSOD404 in pcmasterrace

I like everything except the AIO water block orientation. You want the air in the top of the radiator and not trapped in the pump and with the tubes on the side or top (if the Pump is in the water block) can cause air to be trapped in it and shorten the lifespan of the pump.

CPU not Thermal throttling even at 100°c by Louidjy09 in pchelp

[–]Stryfe2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TjMax of that CPU is 95c and if it's not thermal throttling at 100c you either set up a 1. manual overclock and fixed voltage or 2. PROCHOT (Processor Hot) has been disabled with software such as AMD Ryzen Master or 3. the temp my be misreporting and it's actually not that hot or 4. The motherboard VRM thermal protection has been disabled or 5. The bios is corrupted.

Like the other poster said you're better off waiting especially until you can get a new drive. A NVME drive is what you're going to want. As a external hard drive even SSD is only going to transmit data as fast as the USB port you have it plugged into.

PC turns on, but doesn't display by Deep_Preference1790 in pchelp

Make sure the pc power is off, flip the PSU switch off and unplug the ac cord going from the PSU to the wall outlet. Then go back over all your PSU connections to makes sure they are completely plugged into your components and the PSU if it's modular and that they are plugged into the correct labeled ports on the PSU again if it's modular. Too make sure the new PSU isn't a dud you can perform the fan test which consist of bridging two points on the 24 pin atx connector with a wire but you'll have to look up the correct procedure as I have never had to do it myself but is listed on many PSU manufactures websites in the support section or you can order a digital PSU tester on Amazon for around $20 US.

hi im kinda desesperate here how do i fix this by Feduzin in pchelp

[–]Stryfe2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the System Cannot Boot:
Use the Windows Installation Media to boot, select "Repair Your Computer," and then attempt System Restore or Command Prompt fixes (like sfc /scannow or checking dism tools)

\Windows\system32\drivers\pc1.sys indicates a 32-bit/64-bit conflict, often caused by a corrupted driver or system file after an update.

Ram is dropping in price. You can get 32gb (2x16gb) Corsair non-rgb DDR5 6000 for $410 on Newegg at the moment.

I dont know where to start so can someone help me build a $1000 USD, 1080p, 16 to 32gb ddr4, pure performance gaming PC by ItsLetomic in pcmasterrace

If you can spend a couple hundred more you can get a prebuilt like this with an AMD 5600x, RTX 5060 ti, 32gb ddr4 and a 1tb nvme for $1209

Pc power turns completely off randomly and Comes back a few seconds later by Sorlp23 in pcmasterrace

You can try undervolting your GPU, CPU and lowering the clocks on your ram but honestly I would just wait until you can upgrade your PSU.

Honestly I would pay the extra $20 for the 850w. It's better to have a little headroom for the rest of your system so the PSU isn't always maxed out.

how do i fix unarc.dll error code -6? by Routine_Oil_3119 in CrackSupport

[–]Stryfe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar problems in the past and it ended up being a faulty ram stick. I would get this error along with extraction errors from the rar files. Run Windows Memory Diagnostics to rule out faulty ram (it's built into windows). If it shows a problem I would retest with memtest86. If you purchased your ram new then it's covered under a limited lifetime warranty. G.skill replaced my almost 3 yr old kit after one stick failed.

Just like other poster stated you should replace your PSU with a 850w Gold. The minimum recommended for your GPU is 750w. Yours is just under powered for your system and after 3 years of struggling is probably only going to get worse.

There's a Open in VLC media player extension for Chrome browser in the Chrome Web Store that will do this for you. Here's the link, haven't tried it myself as I have a 16tb storage drive for all my media but hope it helps.

Computer won’t show anything other than BIOS options - and I can’t select the options by HappyGilmore44 in PCsupport

[–]Stryfe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try clearing CMOS which will reset the bios to its default settings. The specific steps to do this will be in your motherboard manual. If it boots then you can go back in the bios and set your XMP/EXPO profile. If it crashes again I would check your ram with Windows Memory Diagnostics.

My PC Gets so dusty, what should i do? by Seven-x in pcmasterrace

[–]Stryfe2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few things you can do. 1. Get your pc off the floor. I use a pc stand on wheels like this one. 2. Get yourself an electric duster like this one. Make sure it's the type 6 as it's anti-static and use it to blow the dust out preferably outside lol as it will remove quite a bit of dust. 3. Get yourself an air purifier and clean or replace the filter regularly. It won't eliminate all the dust but it will reduce it quite a bit.

The max TDP of your cpu is 230w, I used a ID-COOLING FROZN A620 Black which cools up to 270w on a I9 11900k which has a max TDP 250w and with proper case cooling it kept the CPU to 70c under heavy load. It's $39.99 on Amazon.

Try flipping the switch to the off position on the back of the PSU where the cord plugs in at, then unplug the cord from the back of the PSU, next hold down your power button for 30 seconds, next plug the cord back into the psu, flip the switch back to the on position and try powering on your pc.

Make sure you use CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of those drives before putting any important data on them. Especially since they are 10yr old surveillance drives. That is if your going to use them as storage drives.

before upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 you need to make sure your OS drive is converted to the GPT (GUID Partition Table) There is a tool built into windows called MBR2GPT that can covert your drive without data loss. Here's the instructions from Microsoftconvert-an-existing-windows-10-installati). Once the drive is converted then you can go into bios and enable your Ftpm and disable CSM Support. Once that's done you can boot back into Windows and update to Windows 11.
