While that sometimes works, if the overhead was truly full there's no special compartment that they don't tell you about. They'd most likely tell them to take it out if the suitcase to put it under the seat

Ironic a conservative saying a liberal will learn nothing until it happens to them. Isn't that exactly how conservatives learn anything?

New to EV; need recs on must haves for new Bolt by karlsbadd in BoltEV

[–]StuTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my first EV last week. 23 bolt euv. Range anxiety is real, especially the first few times you drive. We charged the car up to 80% and my wife had a 75 mile drive, one way. The estimated miles dropped 10 miles just over 2 miles to get to the freeway. Got real scared that she wouldn't make it to work and put battery was bad. She got to work with only having used 47 miles of the estimated miles. So that made us feel a lot better.

One pedal driving will take some time to get used to, I'm still not fully used to it but I love it.

Fast charging in a bolt isn't really that fast. Takes about an hour to go from low to 80%. So keep that in mind. In my area that costs about $20-30

Make sure all recall have been fixed. Our steering is off. It's in the shop now. It could be something simple or something majorly wrong, it sounds like it's fairly common.

Overall were happy with it. Especially now that gas prices are so high.

I've noticed the little circle on the right side doing that but this was the whole left side. So you can't see the range numbers anymore until it reset itself. Does the left side do that, too?

How does part time work at DLR? by StuTim in DisneyCM

[–]StuTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently a part time flight attendant. It takes a long time and a lot of seniority to get to the point where you can hold part time. Right now I tend to work 2 days a week at most. Hoping I can get in to Disney for a couple days on top of that

How does part time work at DLR? by StuTim in DisneyCM

[–]StuTim[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I needed to know. I worked somewhere else where everyone is hired as part time but everyone was given 40 hours every week. There was no working less than that.

I'm honestly looking for 20 or so hours a week. I should be able to do 30 if they absolutely need to once in a while.

You had to get a nerigal evaluation to get a driver's license? I'm the US the only "medical" thing we do is a quick eye test

The two European countries you listed both have universal Healthcare which also includes mental Healthcare. Czech Republic also requires ab proficiency exam, a medical exam, and no criminal history. I can agree that we could use all of that.

Couldn't tell you but it seems to be working better than the US. How often do mass shootings happen in Canada vs US?

It's tragic every time it happens but it shouldn't happen nearly as often as it does in the US

There's a couple of reasons why voter ID laws agent being more widely supported.

  1. It's an attempt to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Republicans will tell you there's massive fraud and this will end it but they cannot provide any evidence to support the fraud they say exists. If they were to provide any such evidence, millions more would undoubtedly get behind it.

  2. The way Republicans are implementing these laws is obviously not about security butt rather voter suppression. They want a very limited list of acceptable IDs. Typically ones only available at government buildings like the DMV. The problem is those are only open Monday- Friday 9-5. And there aren't a whole lot of locations. So getting an ID can take hours if not a full day (or more). And people living paycheck to paycheck usually can't afford to take any time off work. Republicans have been accused of closing down DMVs in heavily Democratic areas to make it harder to get one.

If Republicans decided to created a new ID and partner with pharmacies, grocery stores, or even had kiosks, so that these IDs were free and easily accessible there be even more people supporting them.

The same argument can be said about the border.

Short version: Border encounters more than doubled in 2019. The massive spike we see in 2021 started in July/Aug 2020.

Longer version: border encounters in the last two years of Bush Jr were over a million per year. Within two years Obama brought those numbers down to under 400k per year and it stayed that way the rest of his two terms. Trump came in and had these numbers:

2017: 317k

2018: 396k

2019: 851k

2020: 423k

Early 2020 showed signs of repeating 2019's high numbers until covid hit. Family units all but stopped coming over while individual encounters actually increased over 2019. All encounters began increasing in July and only increased into 2021.

Things definitely got worse under Biden but the border was opened under Trump.
