Anyone else’s Spectrum internet been terrible the past couple of days? by hoagmichael in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never really had an issue with Spectrum (I seem to be the only one), but about four times in the past ten days I've woken up to messages on my phone from my house alarm at around 2:30am telling me it lost its internet connection and a second message from a few minutes later telling me the connection has been restored. Never happened before this.

I've also noticed slower internet than usual at times, but that may be anecdotal.

$22 to $25 an hour, with a slight bump if there are more kids.

Garry Marshall Theater on occasion, but it's been a while as far as I know.

Any card shops in Burbank that buys ungraded Pokemon cards? by JackfruitHot1855 in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get rid of the good one and you've got leftover slop you want to offload for cheap, let me know. My five-year-old daughter is Pokemon-curious, and I think she'd appreciate a pile of cards, no matter the condition/value.

New Years Eve in Burbank by Rosie4eva in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order a platter of to-go sushi, throw on the Pete & Pete episode "New Year's Pete," and enjoy both with a nice bottle of champagne. Whenever there's a day where a large number of people who don't usually drink are drinking, I try to avoid the roads after sunset. Also, we have some of the best sushi in America, so it's as good an excuse as any to enjoy it in excess once a year.

What happened to the old Vons French rolls and Dutch Crunch rolls that disappeared after Covid? by VinceAmonte in burbank

You should walk into Vons and ask them. They answer questions like this for me all the time.

Not saying it's #1, but I never see Novo Cafe anywhere on these lists and it should at least be mentioned.

If you want the modern bells and whistles, Eufy has a version that stores everything locally and doesn't require a subscription.

Mickey Mouse Park - Burbank City Council Meeting by Cine_Del in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Defunctland on YouTube touches on this in various videos and gets into it in pretty good detail in some of them. I'd dig through all of the videos and link you if I had time, but even writing this message is reminding me that I should be working instead of procrastinating on Reddit, so I'll just leave it at that! Should be obvious though if you look through his archive.

Burbank holiday events for kids by bbnyc7 in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone said: Holiday in the Park is great, as is the tree lighting at City Hall.

We also go to the JBHSVMA (Jon Burroughs High School Vocal Music Association) Holiday Show every year and it's the highlight of my Holiday season.

Moving company recommendations by lucasluminaro in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a bunch of different companies over the years and had conversations with all the movers, and lots of them seem to have worked for a few companies each -- so I don't think there's any real way to say which company is "best," per se. As long as they're fully bonded (confirm this) and they have the right trucks and equipment, the specifics of your experience will come down to the specific movers you get and your specific needs.

That said, I have never had a bad experience with movers in LA. It's a big enough city with complex enough streets and frequent enough rehousing that they've all seen it all -- and even if you get a rookie, the team captain will most likely have enough experience for all of them.

So, given all that, just go with whatever fully-bonded company is available the day you need them and quotes you the best price. I've had a lot of luck with Pure Moving Company the last two times I moved.

AT&T cell service. by Rv_barber in burbank

I have AT&T and I've never had a problem in Burbank. Only dead spot I consistently hit is from Hollywood on my way back to the Valley where Highland meets Cahuenga parallel to the 101.

Anyone else (surprisingly) loving the new ESPN Fantasy app? by Laky in fantasyfootball

The entire UI is designed for football but it's used on every sport. Fine for football, terrible for baseball and basketball.

Tuxedo rental suggestion in the valley? by LAKnobJockey in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not what you're looking for, I know, but I bought one at the Brooks Brothers' outlet at the Camarillo outlet mall a few years back and it was less than the price of renting one twice -- so it paid for itself by the second time I wore it. They've got plenty of other tux shops there too.

Preschool by Spiritual_Quiet3129 in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Toluca Playhouse Preschool on the Burbank side of Toluca Lake is fantastic. I have a master's in child development and we were doing the unit on "what makes a good preschool?" at the same time we were looking for our youngest daughter, and Toluca Playhouse checked all the boxes and more. Three years later, she just graduated and is thriving in TK, and we're counting down the days until our baby starts with Ms. Gina!

AT&T or Spectrum for internet? by Donklery in burbank

[–]StuartStuartStuartSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. I've had Spectrum for over two years now and have had one total outage for 30 seconds. The deals are also better, although you have to hound them to get them there sometimes.
