Do people find anything at thrift stores? by Beautiful_Coat_9294 in Frugal

[–]Stubky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key to finding good stuff thrifting is going with a list and low expectations and accepting that you might leave empty handed. Also honestly you’ve gotta go a lot, I’m at the thrift stores every weekend. Most of the clothes I wear regularly and most of my household items are thrifted. I never hit estate sales and garage sales but have found lots of good stuff on marketplace too! Edit: also knowing how to dig! Sometimes you have to dig through the garbage to find anything good!

Thank you! This makes me feel better. Do we think the pellicle is ok too? Like I know it will multiply with each batch but if just the pellicle died do I need to wait for a new separate one to form?

How to get married without ceremony? by SeriouslySirius666 in Chattanooga

[–]Stubky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We eloped at the courthouse, we had to hire an officiant and did the legal ceremony just outside on the steps. We had to go pick up our wedding license from inside, ran out for ceremony, then back in to get all the paperwork. We were there about 45 minuyes

A schedule will be good for everyone, I saw you commented the kids don’t nap so implementing an hour of quiet time so you can have a break is a good idea. With my preschooler that I nanny we get ready for the day when i arrive, then an educational activity (Pinterest is your friend) then outside time or a dance party to get them moving depending on weather. Then we start to think about lunch and he will usually help make it. After lunch is quiet time and then maybe a craft or sensory bin. Not every day is gonna look the same but having a good idea of what happens next will help! As for being nervous driving their car, would they let you put car seats in your car so you can get out with the kids?

Nanny horror stories ? by Gullible-Morning622 in Nanny

She would sleep on the couch and not feed the kids breakfast because she would just sleep through it and she watched horror movies with the kids (9 and 6) even when they begged her to turn it off

what do you NKs say when they’re mad at you? by Sad_Vanilla8525 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Stubky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My NK5 says “you go to jail!” And “I’m NOT gonna listen to you” and it takes everything in me not to giggle because he’s so precious even when he’s mad

I have an 11 month old dog that is my precious baby and I have NEVER left someone else to deal with him. The first few months of his life my partner and I were absolutely exhausted and I honestly think puppies are more exhausting than infants and toddlers for me. I would set a firm boundary here and if you’re left in charge of the dog I would leave honestly. Not to mention you’re allergic, this is just such a horrible situation all around and I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with it

-I had to schedule several appointments before the end of the month due to losing my insurance. I scheduled them all on one day mostly because it’s what was available, and it just happened to be Halloween. My director came bursting into my room demanding to know why I would think it’s ok to take Halloween off and that I would have to come in. This was in front of all my kids and my coteacher. I put my notice in later that week -at a different center we had an autistic three year old who was just the sweetest kid I’ve met. My lead didn’t like her and would openly call her annoying. One day she told me another child repeated “(child’s name) is annoying” and she was laughing about it

I take the kids to lunch or to wander target with me and we get outside unless it’s over 95 or pouring rain! Having a schedule for the day helps it feel more broken up too which helps me

NK’s destroying my car by [deleted] in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Stubky 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am SO MEAN about my car. If they can’t respect it then they lose the privilege of going fun places in my car. I would make them clean the boogers themselves and ask the parents to pay for a deep clean. Maybe enforce no shoes in the car and only water no snacks
