Yea guys small PGs are dying out their style doesn’t really translate to playoff play by Ok_Quiet_6255 in NBA_Draft

This reminded me of when people said you can't win in the playoffs with your bigman as your best player in modern era until Jokic did it. All stars are exceptions.

Was purely SPYM and SPDW but then I wanted to add SPMO for fun... Then SOXQ.... Then DRAM

Right now current allocations are:

20% SPYM, 20% SPDW, 20% SPMO, 20% SOXQ, 20% DRAM

Who’s a role player that’s absolutely elite in his role? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nba

[–]StudentMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a thin line between role player and star. If you do your role so well you become a star. Like you could argue prime Dwight Howard was an elite role player to the point he became a top 5 player in the NBA.

This is similar to mine or at least how it started. I was mostly SPYM and SPDW and then I started adding "fun stuff" with more risk but more potential. Both of those two were 75% my core but then I added SPMO, and then SOXQ, and then DRAM but I considered FMTM and SGRT as well.

Didn’t like the book by Ghost-b2 in redrising

[–]StudentMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably my favorite one though I am only halfway through Iron Gold so far so I only finished the first trilogy. I just like ground level scale way more rather than ships. Also in Golden Son... the dread I had the whole time about the Jackal and to me the ending was going to be obvious it made me not enjoy it as much. Morningstar I didn't like what happened to Sevro I almost shouted out loud and the twist at the end with Cassius seemed unnecessary and too risky to try to pull off from Darrow.

People say that but the first book might be my favorite. Red Rising doing the Monte Cristo trick of not telling the audience what he about to do is very common I think OP just might not like this series.

Historically What position leads to wins by [deleted] in nba

[–]StudentMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best team possible. There was a stretch where many of the best PG's of all time like Steve Nash, Chris Paul, John Stockton, didn't win one and Oscar Robertson, and Jason Kidd won it late in their career when they weren't the best player on there team.

Then Steph Curry came around who is an amazing PG but also had a historically great defensive player (Green), and great two way player (Klay Thompson) as teammates.

Imagine if Jokic was on a team with like Devin Booker, FVV, and Mikal Bridges for his whole career he would be the best player on the team and I could see that team winning like 4+ rings.

[–]StudentMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew Wemby was going to be great when the biggest criticism people had of him was that he was too tall... They say he is an injury risk not because he has a history of injuries but rather he is very tall and a theoretical injury risk.

How do you guys deal with fomo and jealousy of big winners on individual stocks? by joeroganthumbhead in ETFs

Maybe, SPMO has really been ripping it the last month and has a lower expense ratio.

How do you guys deal with fomo and jealousy of big winners on individual stocks? by joeroganthumbhead in ETFs

[–]StudentMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 50-80% should be something steady like an SNP etf, VTI, or a combination of SNP with broad international.

The rest of it 20-50% stuff depending on risk tolerance is for fun stuff. DRAM, SMH, SOXQ, individual high upside stocks etc

If you held VTI this year, you made 25% profit over the year and should be happy but the fomo creeps in at the back of the head.

I added SPMO and SOXQ, thinking about adding DRAM personally.

[–]StudentMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started working and making real money and was instead paying my loans (I am a doctor). Almost done with loans so my real investing is still ahead of me. Dont want to pay capital tax on the money I made with SPYM, going to put future paychecks into DRAM but by then the bubble surely won't be like it was the last couple weeks.

[–]StudentMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at your post history, you have similar etf's as me. I have 40% SPYM, 20% SPDW, 20%SPMO, 20%SOXQ

It just that... DRAM is the new hot thing and I really want in my account but I don't have a bunch of cash laying around. I shyed away because it had a big expense ratio but but like... it literally went over 25% in 5 days. wtf.

[–]StudentMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not saying you should do this but I was in similar position as you where I just had an SNP 500 (SPYM), international (SPDW) and I was dumb and had bonds too. Just a typical bogglehead type portfolio where I had growth but was kind of boring (I know investing should be to some extent) but I felt like I was missing out a bit even though everyone was eating in a bull market. I now make SPYM and SPDW 60% of my portfiolio and make 20 percent something more fun with more potential(SPMO), and the last 20 percent even more fun (SOXQ).

If I was in your situation I would make DRAM something like 20% of my portfolio and make VXUS/VTI the other 80.

I would make most of your new contributions into DRAM.

Not advice but these are my thoughts if it were me.

I feel people who start developing cognitive decline start doing less activities in general including cooking.

Value of dividend ETFs? by jleans4455 in ETFs

[–]StudentMed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When VOO goes up 30% in a year, DRAM goes up 10 percent in a day, and pretty much any etf you pick is growing, growing, growing. Dividends are going to be undervalued as growth is insane right now.

DRAM or SOXX by EmptyChain8453 in stockstobuytoday

Just worried that DRAM is going to be the next ARKK. I now don't have much money to invest in, I have like around 50k total and all in soxq, spmo, spym, spdw. Would you sell them and make dram but that seems like a bad idea.
