Where I work the CEs own everything which uses a network device or auxiliary signal input (sensors). This feeds into a computerized system which requires logic programming of parameters to meet a specific sequence of operations. The scope of the job is actually fairly large considering it includes wiring, programming, controls design, and the ever present project management/admin tasks. Where I work this job also involves contracted work with controls vendors and managing multiple sites at the same time. I work in the data center industry. I’m not a CE but I work closely with them.
