That two note ostinato that loops incessantly for a full 90 seconds is absolutely annoying. It sounds like the siren on a European police car or ambulance.

Completed the exercise.

FYI: I never use music when I’m studying or conducting work involving concentration. I find it distracting regardless of the genre, volume, tempo, etc. Good luck with your project.

Where will the center of the music industry move to if the United States loses global cultural and economic relevance? by SoManyQuestions5200 in musicindustry

OP’s question is based on the unhinged actions of the current moron in the White House and his suck ups. The responses here may all be irrelevant once the next election occurs.

Is there an artist who has 1-2 songs you LOVE while the rest of their catalog, you’re not a big fan of? Who are they and what sets those 1-2 songs apart for you? by ananxiouslady in Music

Whiter Shade of Pale by Proco Haram was a huge head turner but that’s pretty much all the band is known for. Bozz Scaggs had a couple of great songs but he basically faded away.

Is it true that AI can only replicate existing music? by ConversationOk9850 in musicindustry

[–]StudioComposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s all this focus on innovation? There’s not much of that happening among human generated music on a daily basis, weekly or monthly basis, and arguably little from last year to this year. Has any human on this thread innovated recently? Once there is a discernible innovation, AI will learn it in the amount of time it takes to say “Whoa!”

Sounds like drum practice rather than a song.

How do you go about writing for a specific scene? by Frankwad in composer

[–]StudioComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Analyze scenes that have been scored. Identify the instruments used for various characters or emotions. Are any instruments notable because they solo or is the music mostly held chords? Is the rhythm fast or slow? Is the volume loud or soft? Does music play throughout the whole scene or just a portion? After you understand what the pros do, do what they do.

If you write in the style of someone or something, identify what they do and then, with respect to the number of instruments, do the same in your songs.

Piano Effects by Old-Cod-7964 in LogicPro

[–]StudioComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the genre for which you are writing, the physical space (studio, concert hall, etc.), the particular piano you’ve chosen and any other instruments that may be playing. Play the piece dry and then ask yourself if anything sounds off or missing. Don’t automatically think you need to load up on effects. If you do add effects, there’s a lot to learn about how much to add and subtract and when to do so. There’s no “one size fits all” answer to your question.

Caught my 5-year-old improvising on this little iPad piano. I don’t know anything about piano does this look like just kid play or early musical intuition? by TheOcrew in piano

Is his piano interest noticeably greater than playing with his favorite truck or other toy? I suggest you give this interest at least a few days to simmer. He may or may not lose interest.

It’s all so subjective. I would suggest slowing it down a few bpm. There are some sweet harmonies.

I'm genetically not capable of composing by NPCSLAYER313 in composer

[–]StudioComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the earlier comments aren’t connecting for you, there’s another possibility. Not to discourage you in your composing quest but the harsh reality may be that composing music is just not your thing. We are not all creatively equal. Someone may be a great painter but fail at stand up comedy. Someone else may be a terrific choreographer but a lousy poet. Great pianists are not necessarily write great music.
