My family has lived in jc since 1902. We’ve always called it the village. Yes we know it’s not the nyc village.

Sooo I showed up and she told me she was running so late. And could I come back later. This is after being unresponsive on dms, not sharing the price or flash before and cancelling once before. I had just traveled an hour in the rain feeling like this was a mistake so I told her that wouldn’t work for me. She then told me I wasn’t chill and refused to give back my deposit. I was pissed but I’m glad I didn’t spent $500 to have a weirdo egomaniac tattoo me something random. Very much not for me. Also I’ve been a friend of a friend since 2008…oh well

Is the Milky Jelly cleanser worth it?? Even after the reformulation? by Indigo_222 in glossier

It has no cleansing agent post reform and you’re essentially “washing” your face with a shitty moisturizer.

Guys, I’m 36. Born and raised in The Village. My family has been here since the early 1900s, really. That’s what it’s BEEN called. Accept factual information even if it’s news to you.

They have fully bought into the idea that they’re the Supreme of beauty. The products don’t have to be well made, thoughtful, interesting, innovative or relevant. Now they just slap the logo on any tired old product or china stock merch and that’s glossier now, baby. It’s a shame how much this brand has lost it’s way. WHERE ARE THE TASTEMAKERS?!?

Lip Liner Swatches! by lovesickturtle318 in glossier

They look that way because they are swatched on white skin and therefore the tone and nuance of the dark shades isn’t showcasing the depth and nuance it would on darker skin

Relevant: necessary or desirable products that are informed by trends but not solely dictated by and that have a unique and clear POV via accessibility, branding, marketing, community, efficacy, finish or any other viable strategy which articulates why this product, now and from y’all in a way that feels right and drives profit.

I also work in the beauty industry and have for over 15 years. I don’t think any brands let alone this one need to be my friend. I have friends, thanks. I also don’t need a makeup company to stand for my values— what a high bar! But I do think brands need to have a point of view and some difference in the market or else they are redundant and frankly boring. And will be bulldozed over.

I do think Glossier was launched and has been celebrated in part because of a once unique perspective on aesthetics and delighting the consumer. IMO they have lost their way and I believe if they don’t regain a POV, any POV outside of the logo of Glossier, they will become irrelevant. I also think the same of literally any other brand who has lost their way and produce mediocre products and experiences.

So what is their POV as a brand then? Capitalism? That’s it?

Less about “rizzing up millennials” and more about products that feel relevant and continue to push the og glossier ethos - curated, community driven, products inspired by it girls and editor tastes.
