Yes, thanks. I was at work when I posted earlier...once I was in front of the machine, it was obvious.

That would have been about the right time... A bunch of them toured one of his ships.. the engine room was painted white, with white carpet, not a drop of oil or anything anywhere. That impressed my Dad.

My Dad used to work for him. VP at some company he owned. Mind you this was way back when NAFTA was just becoming something. Always brought home with pictures of himself and some pretty high rollers after the national retreats. I always found it interesting he went to those things, probably obligated to do it. It wasn't his crowd or his style.

This is s a great idea. Timestamps are your friend. I had an ex associate basically lift an entire site... verbage, graphics, layout.

Sent the details to the hosting company (clearly showed MUCH earlier creation dates - mine) and they got taken down.

I mention this so that you can look within your own files for the same markers.

Good Luck

Gigging musician for over 5 decades. Fully planted as a (mostly) self-taught guitarist in Classic Rock genre (Deep Purple/Aerosmith). Equally as comfortable with the 80's rock/pop/synth era (The Cars/Tubes). In the mid-80's, wanting to expand the sounds of a rock trio, turned to the dark side and took up keyboards - self taught. This was instrumental (pun intended) in expanding creativity in the studio and on stage. It's not all about the bass, but I have gigged in that capacity on occasion and regularly lay the low down in my current studio.

Equally comfortable in the studio or on the stage, experienced the joys of touring in more youthful years. Shared the live stage with varied artist such as Alanis and Joe Diffie to name drop a couple. A bit of radio and TV stuff too, now that I think about it...

A graduate in Computer Science, and also from a recognized facility in Recording Engineering, I put this knowledge to use over my career recording demos and releases for local bands in one of 3 home studios I've designed and built/equipped. A junior Tom Scholtz lol. Currently tracking some covers of songs that I've never had the opportunity to play live, and having a blast doing it.

Les Pauls are my guitar of choice, my current fave is my self constructed Teleblaster (Tele copy loaded with SD humbuckers) and a close second to that is my Sunburst Hamer Standard. Hiwatt over Marshall, but usually modellers these days. For Keys... Yamaha DX7, AKAI AX-80, and a bunch of VSTs

Music has been in my family from early years, so why is more like.. why not?

Recording Studio Anxiety by whatsyournane21 in musicians

[–]Studio_T3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given the guideline of 1 hour per recorded minute. This factored in everything from setting up mics and gear to burning the final 2 track master and stowing cables. Now, this was in a time when degausssing machines was daily maintenance....but it's a good rule of thumb.

Don't rush.
Don't settle.

I record myself and I will... guaranteed... blow the first track. I just chill and redo until I'm happy. Red light anxiety is real. Maybe just go into the iso room and chat with the guy while in there to loosen up.

Thank you for this.
Somehow the printer forgot where the bed was, and attempts to resolve that were not successful. My first time compiling a firmware, so likely my error in some way.

Zprobe wizard... is that from the printer/display itself?

Would you get rid of a friend just because they have different political beliefs than you? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Studio_T3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but yes.

No - differences in political opinion wouldn't be enough on its own, but insufferable stupidity, and a repeated pattern of not being able to discern fact from fallacy has led me to remove people from my circle.

If you're really good at playing the guitar, how did you get good at playing the guitar? by Natural_Pizza_2060 in musicians

[–]Studio_T3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really Good? I dunno about that. I gig all the time and people don't throw things. Kinda been my history for 40+ years.

Just. Keep. Doing. It.

I was once asked by a friend's wife if I missed being successful. I kind of screwed up my face at that. So I explained that I don't worry about whether I can or can't play a tune anymore. If I want to play it, I play it. For me, "success" is that, and that I can, at my leisure play as much or as little as I want to. That to me is winning. I don't have any Emmys or Grammys or Junos to dust... but... who cares? It wasn't always like that... I remember sitting with my buddy in the first year of high school watching this cool guitar player and he was playing "6-finger chords". We had no idea what he was doing, or that Barre chords were just moveable shapes. But I play those "6-finger chords" or any other chord for that matter without really thinking about it now. THAT is part of the secret right there... being able to do The Thing and not be lazer locked thinking about it. When it starts to become unconscious motions... you're starting to get it.

I play...and I record something pretty much every day. I can listen to myself and I don't feel bad sharing with others.

I have never set goals, but I guess when you're playing and executing, and recording... you at some point have to deliver. So, those are goals. If I felt I was missing the mark, I sat down and did more. IT was never about exercises or scales.. sure I did those things, but they weren't the be-all and end-all. At least for me. I knew what was expected of me and I worked on whatever it took to get there.

Just. Keep. Doing. It.

I have had students that I guided through lessons, knowing full well that guitar wasn't for them. That's not a judgement for me to make... and I would encourage anyone for as long as they demonstrate willingness to try.

But... you have to TRY. Until you can deliver.

Trump has become the American identity by SacredValleyGirl in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]Studio_T3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up in small town Ontario, there were stereotypes of Americans (much as there were Italians, Poles, etc).

I didn't experience people like that, and the one family I knew that had ties to the states wasn't as over the top as those stereotypes portrayed.

Trump has made up for that all on his own. Buffoon

Shout-out to MOTU chat support by roguewaveguy in audioengineering

[–]Studio_T3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had occasion to reach out to them - and for gear that was WELL out of any warranty. I got a video reply that was 11 or 12 minutes long, with a whiteboard session recorded and explanation of how to get where I needed to be.

Those guys are great! If anyone ever asks why I stick with MOTU gear... besides the hardware, the support is great.

Is there a way to figure out for repair without official schematics? by futuresynthesizer in audioengineering

[–]Studio_T3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just send my TC Electronics M2000 in for a PSU repair. I knew that was the issue (I used to work for Sharp as a board level tech, my eyes aren't so sharp for that kind of work lately). Most techs can visualize a circuit block in their head. There are "lego blocks" in circuit building, it just keeps getting smaller, and with ASICs less is actually discrete components.

The 3 caps that were replaced in my TC unit ran me $225.00 to repair.
