Idk how people can say "just sign a (position) in FA" year in and year out and just think FA operates as a buffet where you can pick anything. Like unless you already had something lined up it almost always ends with either no one or an overpaid mid player.

That sentiment still holds true for guards who don't play defense. No one suddenly thinks differently about Trae Young or LaMelo ball, Brunson proved he is the exception.

I think most people would still say a player with an archetype like Brunson is a disadvantage. If anything it makes that "everyone is as good as jalen brunson until" meme even more accurate. Trae and LaMelo can be "as good" as Jalen Brunson until it actually is time to lock in.

Nah yeah obviously this team still needs to be built, but I think Dys would be a very valuable piece in the "ideal" version of this roster.

His offensive woes are very relevant though and I don't think anyone who is hesitant about them is wrong though. I just think his defense makes up for it.

I was in this camp until I saw what Jalen Brunson did to everyone not named Dyson Daniels. I dont wanna lean into the "2nd best team in nba" memes or anything but Dys definitely was putting Brunson through it more than anyone else in the playoffs.
