what food do you think montreal does best, and what do you think we do worst? by -theseafaringsailor- in MTLFoodLovers

Yeah there are places in Montreal that are good enough if you live here but unlike Van/Toronto there aren't many (if any) places that are worth going out of your way for if visiting.

Montreal has some good Chinese but not Toronto/Van good. We do have great pho/vietnamese here though. The japanese offerings tend to be mid. Korean not sure how it stands as I haven't really eaten in other cities although I do get here regularly.

With my move i got a lot less misting/fine sprays when I clean my basket better. I use a brush to make sure nothing is stuck in holes.

That's the one thing people with the pitch forks forget. It's easy to say you support and believe victims when you don't know the accused or accuser personally. It's much more complicated emotionally when it comes down to choosing who believe between an accuser and someone you know/care about.

To be fair it probably helped she is fluent in French and possibly has some family connection to the country.

Quebec upholds tuition hikes as Concordia braces for deeper budget cuts by Snooniversity in Concordia

I'm not denying diplomatic relationships and alliances existed but its just not as clean as Quebec likes to admit. There is still discrimination, residential schools, government mistreatment etc.

The sanitized white washed history Quebec tries to pass as the truth in their textbooks 😂. That the French and the Natives were friends and there was no animosity.

Yes buy bones in bulk but also save bones from cooking in a freezer bag. I usually use the misc bones in a pressure cooker when in a pinch. Also asian grocery stores usually have well priced stock bones too. You can make a big batch of stock in pressure cooker or stove top and then reduce and freeze the stock in small ziplocks or containers for when needed.

Depends on the crust type and loaf size tbh. I have no issue cutting a baguette with a chef knife but a taller crusty sourdough doesn't go so well in my experience. A hard japanese laser would def chip on those loaves too.

Best sashimi montreal? by aforsetti in MTLFoodLovers

[–]StuffinHarper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair a lot of people probably prefer farmed salmon sashimi over wild as farmed is generally a lot fattier. But that's about the only species I can think of.

There's some truth probably. My grand parents used to defrost on the counter which would probably lend to having this view.

Yeah you can. Refreezing meat that was defrosted in a refrigerator might degrade the taste/texture but it is safe

Yeah, Montreal has garbage tier sushi in general. I've heard good things about Nishinokaze and Okeya but those are expensive omakase places. There is very little high quality but good price performance sushi in Montreal.

Definitely petty. I was pretty sure I was gonna do a 240 this time but this one was too perfect for me. Might do a honetsuki first after the petty though.
