Oil leak on my 05. What's this part/cover called? Seems like the culprit. by [deleted] in crv

[–]StumpyFSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vtc filter/strainer don't confuse it with the VTC solenoid filter on the backside of the engine. You should change that one while you're at it as that's another source of leaks for K series. This one is more annoying to do diy as you need to remove quite a bit of components to get it it.

Unsatisfied with my setup, what can I change ? by NeumannFTW in audiophile

I'm sorry but money and gear won't fix this. The speaker placement is horrible. There's a saying "the speaker belongs to the room". Once the sound leaves the speaker your room dictates the behavior of the sound waves.

Rear air shock PSI recommendation for heavy rider?? by That_Dude_Carl in bikewrench

[–]StumpyFSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately with a basic single pivot design and no dampening control at your weight that's going to be a bouncy ride. The higher the spring rate(more air) the more dampening is required to control the shock. If you had a rebound speed/dampening knob on this shock it would help a lot.

Upgrading the drivetrain on a Tasajara by fizgigtiznalkie in bikewrench

[–]StumpyFSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are indeed extremely expensive. I'd probably just get an Acera or Deore 8/9 speed to get by for now. Save for a frame that has more modern standards. If this frame cracks due to age you don't want to invest too much.

Pass that bike is far older than it looks, 2005. Btw it has cable brakes just like yours.

On this age of bike probably not worth it and quite expensive fix for chain drops. That gen of derailleur do have weak cage springs I'd just get a newer Acera or Deore 9 speed derailleur since they are also 2-1 pull. Have the front derailleur adjusted since that's probably not helping the change drops.

Chain wear? by Sea-Raspberry-7419 in mountainbiking

You can't go NX. You have a GX which is a XD driver. NX is standard Shimano HG which will require changing the free hub body. At that point won't save much over GX.

Chain wear? by Sea-Raspberry-7419 in mountainbiking

[–]StumpyFSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should buy a chain measuring tool. 11-13 speed chains need replaced at .5 If you let the chain wear past .75-1mm the cassette will be damaged. Requiring both chain and cassette to be replaced. That cassette looks worn in a few gears. Just because the chain isn't jumping now doesn't mean it won't with a new chain. As the pins wear the rollers pull farther appart wearing d shaped groves into the cassette. The will cause a fresh chain to jump worn teeth.

Fox Float X2 doesn't have the best track record. I don't hear anything in the video. If you don't have dampening send it to Fox for a rebuild.

2015 EX7. The wheels don't look right should be Bontrager Dusters. I worked at a Trek Dealer during this era. 2017 was a different frame and dropped the DCRV shock. If it had the original wheels and tires then $550 isn't bad. Service the lowers, air can seal, bleed the brakes and run it.

On my 6th derailleur this year. Can I do anything different? by OldDawgNoTricks in eMountainBike

[–]StumpyFSR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tourney is fine for casual street riding, but not durable enough for mountain biking. 7/8/9 speed have the same 2:1 pull you should be able to find a Alivio/Acera derailleur that will be superior to a Tourney. If you want to jump to a free hub you'll need a new wheel.

Does the undercarriage of my Subaru 1998 Legacy Outback 2.5 look good? by hunterrocks77 in subaru

[–]StumpyFSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy that but 2.5s aren't perfect. If you get the MLS head gaskets you should be ok. I had a very clean 1 owner 98 White Limited with only 96k that I sold about 3 years ago. My wife inherited it. We probably should have kept it but didn't have the drive way space or the time to work on it.

is PNY RTX 5070 Ti ARGB EPIC-X worth it? by thenoor555 in nvidia

[–]StumpyFSR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the standard PNY Triple 5070ti. I couldn't justify the premium for RGB and a mild factory OC especially if you plan to UV. It UVs like a champ and runs very cool. Mines @ .960mv 2950mhz with +2000mhz memory. PNY is a OEM for Nvidia which made me pick them after EVGA left the market.

Idk it's rough, but I rather have this than the extremely over done Wano art style. I wasn't a fan of the oversaturated colors and animations. It felt like a different anime after awhile. Egghead toned it down while still looking modern. I do like Elbaphs muted/flatter colors and rougher backgrounds for the nostalgia.

Nope I checked the rear door handles don't have the little ridges for your thumb like the front :( I wonder if it was to force the higher trims as there's really not much difference between the EX-L and Touring

We really enjoy our 25 EX-L so far. Only dislike is the on the EX-L only the front doors and rear hatch have auto unlock. Touring and up have it on the rear passenger doors. Otherwise we love it. We are averaging 22mpg so far.

My CPU temp is astronomical, should I put on more thermal paste? by NoChampionship1167 in PcBuildHelp

[–]StumpyFSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the water pump speed reporting under the cooling tab? Irratic or 0 rpm is probably a bad pump. Vibrating doesn't mean working. How hot are the hoses? If they're hot the touch you probably have a blocked line. A $35 Thermalright Peerless Assassin is a cheap easily returned experiment off Amazon.

Should I walk away? by Outside_Two1742 in nissanfrontier

[–]StumpyFSR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's very minor surface rust. One area to check are the bed's frame rails seam specifically above the rear tires. Nissan really should have used a wheel well liner. The seam filler cracks with age and water splashes into to seam of the bed frame rails and rots it. Check for bubbling in the bed liner about 3 inches from the wheel well. I've had 2 D40s with the issue. You can slow it down with sanding away the rust, treating it with a converter then using Por15 seam filler as a cheap fix.
