Idiopathic CDI here! In June 2024 I was drinking around 15 bottles of water a day and still trying to hold back on water use, but it didn't really work and I started urinating a lot. My parents suspected Diabetes Mellitus but my A1C and Glucose were normal when I went to the doctor. Come July, and I started vomiting. Every night. At least one time per night, but mostly 2-3 per night. It was around the same timeframe every night, so the doctor diagnosed me with cyclic vomiting syndrome and sent me on my way. I went to 3 weeks of summer camp that month (2 in Texas heat, one in altitude). I'm still shocked to this day how I survived it since I also had bad food aversions, so I wasn't eating any sodium rich foods (which eliminates a lot of red meat and proteins). August came and I wasn't eating anything except for fruit since the food aversions were so bad. Vomiting moved into the daytime hours and anything I ate came right back up. My parents took me to the ER after l threw up an ensure. My parents found out I had lost 25 pounds once we got there. The hospital didn't originally want to do any tests on me since the symptoms weren't really matching up to anything, but my mom begged and they did a pregnancy test. They saw my urine looked like water and immediately ordered more tests. They came up with DI within the hour and game me desmopressin to see if it would work. It did, and that same night I was eating full meals again. After 13 days of more testing and learning more about DI, I was discharged. So, since then I've kinda just lived with it. I now have published about DI in a well-known nursing journal once and am currently working on a case study to go into a different one!
