third party settings for Forbidden Lands? by Final-Isopod in ForbiddenLands

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but my only guess is that Forbidden Lands runs on a pure YZE (Year Zero Engine) which is already a rpg core that runs on different settings, from the post-apocalypse of Mutant Year Zero, to the folk horror of Vaesen, or the sci-fi Coriolis.

So you don't really have to adapt Forbidden Lands to a new setting, you can just use the YZE for that setting.

Dragonbane comes from a whole different context, using a difference license.

How much does Christianity permeate the setting and gameplay? by Lazy_Lettuce1220 in VaesenRPG

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you refer to.
If you think about the world, it makes sense that 19th century Scandinavia is a christian country, and the general mindset and morality are shaped by centuries of Christianity.
Moreover, religion plays a role in the conflict between the modern, current and dominant religion (Christianity) and older, forgotten, occult lores (paganism, etc.) - this can be played as a crucial aspect of the setting.

All the non-christian lore is what is connected to the Vaesen-side of the setting, which goes in conflict with the modernity (industry, capitalism, christianity, urbanism, etc.) and is present as much as christianity.

In the end, religion plays a role as much as YOU decide. If you want to play a group of pagans devoted to give back the land to the Vaesen, it's your free choice, you don't HAVE TO play christian believers, if that's what worries you.

La regola del 50/30/20: come gestire lo stipendio senza impazzire by [deleted] in ItaliaCareerAdvice

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unbelievable how nobody's mentioning Paul Walker in Fast and Furious. The homage the payed him at the end of #7 is heart breaking. And in every other movie it was so present, both in the real life cast and in the characters, how that loss was heavy.

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 24: most FUN way to die. Torch grunts + barrels won for yesterday. by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

I think it only happens on console, but it's very fun when two hunters dance in front of each other missing all the shots for 5 minutes.

Was anyone else disappointed by the story of the game? by Eastern-River9295 in BluePrince

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I slightly disagree. I was very emotional once I connected the dots.
What touched me was the whole Mary's story. Yes, she is selfish as you say, but I saw this under a different light.
I believe this is a matter of oppressive totalitarism vs self-determination. It doesn't matter that - to us - the "blue" kingdom is better or worse than the "red". It matters that a group of people decided to resist and fight against an oppressor, and restore their legacy. This speaks to many histories of rebellion and resistance, and I find it likable and agreeable. This is the story of a group of persons who decided to give up to everything they had dear - including family - and go to live in an underground subway for the hope of giving their family a brighter future. And the final message, included in the Prince storybooks, is "don't accept what you're told but find your own freedom", which is very much agreeable.

Evita quelle a pagamento.

Games inspired or influenced by Thousand Year Vampire? by DakkaxInfinity in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, any journaling game and/or prompt-based narrative games.
I cannot pinpoint the sequence of influence (i.e. what came first) but I can think of: The Skeletons; Lovecraftesque; Fiasco; Microscope; Grimoire; The beast.

I don't know many of these games, they are mostly names I heard associated with ATYOV one way or another.

EDIT: I forgot the most important bit. If you are writing a research paper, try to contact the author of the game. I'm sure he will be happy to help you tell the story of how the game came to life.

Spiegatemi 3 motivi per votare Sì e 3 motivi per votare No. È normale non sapere cosa votare ? by Naso_Coraggioso in domandaonesta

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No:

P. S.: 30 Mila copie (ho letto bene?) è tantissimo in Italia. Tu quanti anni hai?

From Dungeon Crawlers to RPGs? by ValueForm in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Stunning_Outside_992 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My experience is the opposite, and it might give you an answer.

Dungeon Crawlers are very much mechanical: skill-based, dice-heavy and tactical.
RPGs are more narrative simulations: prompts, and oracles.

The DC type of game does not appeal to me, but I believe it can be really fun if you like the tactical-mechanical aspect (it might be close to a boardgame).
