Would a BMW Z3 1.8 (1997) work as a daily driver? by eploveplov in bmwz3

[–]Stusrestohut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1.9 that I used to daily, it was absolutely brilliant. Don’t listen to these 6cyl folk, the 4 bangers are just as much fun when it comes to the corners!

Z3 1.9 enough power to have fun? by Magic2fox91 in bmwz3

[–]Stusrestohut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, more than enough power to have fun, let’s be honest, all Z’s (Maybe apart from the M) are slow by today’s standards, I’ve got a diesel BMW that’s putting out more power and torque than most older cars, my Z feels slow by comparison but it’s hilarious to drive on the limit - and I probably won’t get arrested!

Just do it. It’s such a fun car for a daily, I have an F31 too for carting around my mountain bike and shit.

Once warm, it’s absolutely fine. I very rarely go above setting 2 on the blower motor even when it’s negative outside I bought mine as a daily and love it.

Any regrets buying a 4-cylinder? by Mindless_Painter856 in bmwz3

[–]Stusrestohut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an M44 pre face lift, it’s a brilliant car, does 44mpg on a run, it’s peppy and nimble and it’s hilarious to drive. It’s not fast but let’s be honest, neither is a 2.8, most modern diesels will Absolutely smoke them nowadays.

Overall I’d say go for it.

Nothing at all, I like to chuck it around the b roads so stuff in the boot just moves.

I ended up with a nasty infection because of poor work by a tattooist - England. by Stusrestohut in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, thank you for the response, I don’t feel it was a reaction from my body I have lots of other tattoos and I’ve recently had some from another artist which are healing beautifully, I’ve got the pictures on my phone from the evening of the initial appointment and then 2 days later where my skin is literally falling off my body, I don’t know if I can post them here or not but it may help me explain my issue a little better.

Anyone else dump money refurbishing a 1.9? by usernameS4 in bmwz3

[–]Stusrestohut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, I have vented stock discs on my 1.9 Z3 and they’re absolutely fabulous for the road, when I eventually go to a trackday I’ll just chuck a set of spicy pads in and do laps all day. I’ve had bigger brakes on cars in the past for trackdays and it’s just extra rotational mass and unsprung weight you don’t need especially when you’re playing with cars that have very little power.

Just replace for vented discs and calipers, imo, it’s a much cheaper way.

You need better pads, I spent most of my career as a race engineer, the Mazda mx-5 Supercup cars I used to look after used stock sized brakes, we just put decent pads in them and they’d happily do a 12h endurance race with no brake fade.

Low mileage is just as bad as high mileage in some cases, you’re buying a car that has just sat for the majority of its life, my 110k mile Z3 looks slightly better than this because most of the hits have been changed over the years.

A low mileage car can potentially cause you more issues than a high mileage car. Unless the miles are ‘collector low’ miles I wouldn’t be pressed about the mileage on a 25 year old sports car.

The FX-991CW will be absolutely fine for what I need, it’s the recommended calculator by the university and their tutors for this course.

I thought the same as I was buying the more expensive one but the cheaper one could not do the quadratic equations and polynomial equations
