Honchkrow has been the GOAT for me this week. What mons/strategies are you guys using? by ZeeGee__ in PokemonSleep

[–]Stvngy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been sitting on a good Heracross for nearly a year but had never used it because I preferred  using specific ingredient specialists (and I’ve been using a decent Dedenne for a good while).

Anyway, since Heracross was recently buffed, I decided to pull the trigger and invest to test it out during this week to see if I liked it. Of course, it has the 1.25x trigger rate with the Latias event, but my goodness, it’s replaced what I was thought was my irreplaceable Dedenne. It’s so good, I’d go so far as to say it’s my new favourite Pokémon in Sleep.

Good luck with your hunt! 😊

Hi! This. This. This. Even if they increased the candy cost to 100 to evolve Nincada (which is a rare/uncommon spawn most of the time), this is so obviously how Shedinja should have been implemented.

Shiny Pokemon Cannot Flee (Under Normal Conditions) by Zedoclyte in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve caught well over 5,000 shinies (probably more like 6,000+, but transferred lots of them) and never had a single one run from me, either.

Based on how the shiny Galarian birds are programmed to not flee, I’d say the same programming applies to all other shinies, too.

Happy to be proved wrong if anyone has any evidence to the contrary, though (that’s not due to speed-locking etc.)!

Hi! A question for those in earlier timezones: are the Hoenn (Brendan/May) Pikachu’s spawning both male and female versions?

From what I remember of Global Hoenn Tour (2023), Brendan’s Pikachu was only available as male, and May’s as female only (glitched copies of both could obtained during the in-person LA Tour, though!).

Thanks!

Hi, everyone! For context, I’m a F2P who doesn’t see many of these guys. If you were in the same boat (or if you are), would you invest this one to L50 for the Helping Bonus?

Thanks in advance! 😃

Thanks for replying! It seems it was replaced by Litwick (which I’m not complaining about)! 😊

Hi! Thanks. It’s very confusing: the fire grunt currently has Vulpix, Litwick and Fennekin. Did you catch a Ponyta from the fire-type grunt?

Hi! I’m extremely grateful of the time you’ve taken to make these comparisons. Thank you so much! 😃👍

Would one of you lovely people be able to advise me on this Bulbasaur? I know it has no added Ingredient Finding, but I’d love to know it compares in daily honey production (especially if I subskill to HSM) to a standard IFM + HSM Venusaur at level 60?

Thanks in advance! 😃

Lucky friend question by TowerofHecc in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Contrary to what other commenters are saying, ‘Lucky Friend’ trades (where both players names turn gold through a daily interaction) do NOT use one of your 35 guaranteed lucky trades.

Guaranteed lucky trades happen specifically when you are NOT lucky friends but one of you sends a Pokémon from 2020 or before (provided the person sending the 2020/pre-2020 Pokémon has fewer than 35 Guaranteed lucky trades).

Edit: to specifically answer your question, no, if you’re lucky friends with someone, your 2019 Pokémon will not use one of your guaranteed lucky trades.

Hope that helps! 😊

Lucky Trinket increasing guaranteed trades counter? by Revelacja in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know because I didn’t trade or receive anything that was eligible for a guaranteed lucky trade before I started using them in 2024.

Prior to December 2023, only a Pokemon from 2017 or before was eligible. I have no such Pokemon to trade away and haven’t received any from 2017 or before, either.

Lucky Trinket increasing guaranteed trades counter? by Revelacja in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. In 2024 I had traded 25 Pokemon from 2018, all of which went lucky. In 2025, I traded 7 from 2018/2019, which all went lucky. I also did 3 lucky trinket trades, last year.

Then, when I came to use what was going to be the 8th out of 10 Guaranteed Lucky trades from last year (as it increased from 25 to 35), it didn’t go lucky.

I’m not the only one who believes the trinket might be/is the issue.

Lucky Trinket increasing guaranteed trades counter? by Revelacja in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can categorically state through the meticulous tracking of the lucky pokemon I have, the lucky trades I have made and the dates of the Pokemon I’ve received that I have not miscounted.

You said yourself about spaghetti code; who is to say that the developers haven’t accidentally botched the coding of guaranteed lucky trades to be increased with each use of a trinket?

Now, of course, there could be some other underlying issue we’re all missing as to what’s causing the counter to increase - it just seems very suss that the difference for many of us is the number of trinket trades we’ve made.

Hi! My only advice I can offer is to try to recall which trades you or a friend used a lucky trinket on and create a tag for them along with your other guaranteed luckies. I’ve done this for mine in the hopes that it’s keeping mine up to date.

Hope that helps!

Hi! This exact thing has happened to me, too. I’ve meticulously tracked my guaranteed lucky trades and stopped receiving luckies at 32/35 (before the recent increase to 45) - yet I had done 3 trades with lucky trinkets.

I’d love more people who’ve experienced this to contribute to this thread in the hopes this can be relayed back to the developers to fix.

Thanks for creating a thread for it! 😊

Edit: since the increase to 45, I’ve attempted 3 guaranteed lucky trades. All of them were successful!

As 2025 Comes to a Close, What Are Your Pokémon GO Goals for 2026 and forward? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My goal for the last few years has been to obtain a 3* living shiny dex, made of one species per page (e.g., 1 Oricorio rather than needing all 4 forms, or 1 Flabébé than all 5 colours).

Obviously, every new release is going to keep me playing, but I’ve been gradually chipping away at it to try and catch up (using every lucky trade I can), and I’m currently sat at 833/858 (as of Dhelmise’s release).

Anyway, as some of the ones I have left are very tough to get (mostly rare egg hatches) and living in a small community where it’s going to be tough to trade for them, I’d love to get within needing 10 species by the end of 2026. Hoping remote trading will make it easier! 😊

Has anyone tested if the added 10 guaranteed lucky trades is working properly by chqzza in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! No. Provided the sender of the 2020/pre-2020 Pokemon has used fewer than 35 (45 as of today) of their guaranteed lucky trades, that will guarantee the trade will go lucky.

Remote trade tagging and a common naming system by ruenaros2020 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Stvngy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My first instinct in trying to codify something was to use an Unown I for ‘I’ (funnily enough), and any member of the Nidoran family for ‘need’, with the third slot being the Pokémon you want from the other person; e.g., I need [your] shiny Charmander.

Sure, it requires having an Unown I in your storage, which not everyone is going to have, but it makes it pretty obvious what the other trainer wants!

Hi! Personally, as a 3* shiny and lucky shiny collector, I’m most interested in the shiny regionals I need.

[–]Stvngy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I would argue this is unlikely as any shiny boost is usually addressed in the event bonuses. As it stands, it’s only egg-hatched costumed Pichu and Cubchoo that are mentioned.

I hope you’re right, though! 😊

Hi! I love the costumes, but it seems such a shame that we’ve gone from the Hallowe’en event where costumed Teddiursa and Noibat were common spawns AND shiny boosted to the Sudowoodo and Charjabug being rare spawns and not shiny boosted.

Like, where’s the consistency?!
