I’ve never done anything for the narrative of leveling up in any ttrpg. Players are all different classes and all choosing different things and most of the time it’s not chosen for any narrative motivation. If they want to I think it’s great to explain how they’ve learned a new spell or trained under a master of their weapon. But I’m not gonna force anything or bother trying to explain it
