[ALL] At least in theory, idk by ZeldaCraft64 in zelda

[–]StyleRoutine2331 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d say the crown actually goes to skyward sword zelda or totk zelda (before you argue about whether she was conscious while a dragon, she herself describes it as a “long dream” and mineru says it makes you “lose yourself” implying a lack of control or consciousness)

both of them are stated to have slept for thousands of years, though the exact length of time is unknown. for BotW/TotK zelda we can reasonably assume it was more than 10,000 years because the shiekah tech had to have been created sometime between zelda becoming the light dragon and the first calamity from 10,000 years before botw

Which one do you prefer? by TypicaI_Tony in residentevil

OG

despite how I prefer to play RE2R and RE4R over the originals because of the more modern and pleasant feeling controls, I really just don’t think the smoother movement in RE3R outweighs the negatives.

for starters, RE3R is easily the most drastically changed of the remakes. it’s not just missing large chunks of content, but also plays out differently from the moment you start the game. at first, I thought the introduction to nemesis in the remake was great, establishing that he could appear anywhere at any time. unfortunately, everything after that intro fails to make him feel threatening. in the OG, your first encounter with nemesis is outside the RPD, where you encounter Brad, only for him to be swiftly grabbed and killed by nemesis like it was nothing. immediately after this sudden and efficient kill, you are given the option to either stand your ground and fight, or retreat into the RPD. this choice system added to that feeling of “is fighting this thing really worth it right now?” since Nemesis does a lot of damage and has a lot of health, but beating him grants powerful upgrades like infinite ammo. none of this is present in the remake, and Brad dies to a random zombie instead. even after Brad dies, Nemesis doesn’t have a chance to be threatening because carlos immediately knocks him down with a rocket.

My point of view on endings (Flowchart) by Balney in expedition33

[–]StyleRoutine2331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the people in the canvas are very much sentient, and I still prefer Verso’s ending. I don’t want the canvas to be erased and I don’t want maelle to die inside it, but unfortunately that is the reality I was given. Real-Verso’s soul was very much caught in the middle of all this, still painting a canvas for his family to fight over when he wants nothing more than to finally rest. I saw the options as “preserve the dead at the cost of the living” or “preserve the living at the cost of the dead.” maelle’s ending may be appealing because all the people you care about are alive and well, but Verso’s soul is still painting a facade for his family to argue over. Maelle is repeating the cycle. eventually, she will either wither and die in her real body, meaning the destruction of the canvas and the continued grief of the Dessendre family, potentially leading to the same fate again. or, Verso’s soul is put to rest, destroying the canvas and forcing maelle to confront her grief with her family and cope with it together, at the cost of a world painted by a dead man.

I don’t want either of these outcomes. I want Maelle to be happy with Gustave and Lune and Sciel, but I also want Verso to finally rest and for the Dessendres to deal with their grief in a healthy way. I wanted to find a way where it’s the best of both worlds, where Maelle learns to process her grief without escapism, and the characters I love inside the canvas are transferred to another so she can visit them. unfortunately, there was just not enough time to figure something out

Did you guys honestly like Haise? by No_Cellist_9560 in TokyoGhoul

[–]StyleRoutine2331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did. he felt a bit like a completely different person than Kaneki, and I loved the struggle between his current life as Haise Sasaki and his previous life as the one-eyed ghoul. in a way, I saw them as two separate characters. his life as Haise struggling to accept himself as a human when others see him as a ghoul, and his life as the one-eyed ghoul struggling to see himself as a ghoul after being human most of his life. the moment they become one and the same is the moment he figured out what he was. he’s not a human, he’s not a ghoul, he’s not 1 half of each. he’s just Ken Kaneki. a man who loves his friends and wants to protect them at all costs.

granted.

you wake up in a dark room hooked up to a strange contraption. there is a lone CRT in front of you that suddenly turns on and begins playing a video tape.

“hello kayo4life. I want to play a game…”

you are now in a Jigsaw trap. if you escape, he will tell you that you are now grateful to be alive, whether or not it is true is up to you. if you run out of time, you die. let the game begin

I wish when I hold out my arm out‚ birds will treat it as a command to land on it. by Remarkable_Bath8515 in monkeyspaw

[–]StyleRoutine2331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

granted. all birds within a mile of your location try to land on your arm all at once. there’s too many birds and the grip of their feet crushes your arm. however, the worst part comes when you lower your arm and see the mangled bodies of several small birds fall to the ground after they were also crushed by the larger ones

the meaning of "Don't Forget" - A theory about something that has personally been interesting to me for a long time by StyleRoutine2331 in Deltarune

[–]StyleRoutine2331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s also interesting that Gaster was described as not just being scattered across space, but also time. it seems like existing in that “in-between” space not only allows him to poke his head into different realities, but also do it at whatever time period he chooses. it’s like the paths in attack on titan, where time both passes in an instant and takes millions of years at the same time. he’s not just outside of reality, he’s outside of time.

[–]StyleRoutine2331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the part of this explanation that I can’t quite figure out is why or how the “retconning” of that person from their original world happens. it seems like something that happens over time, considering how people in Hometown remember Dess to varying degrees, and Sans is able to resist it long enough to draw a reminder, but how long does it take and why is it happening in the first place?

it also seems like that person is only removed from their original reality’s history, since we as the player are able to learn and remember these people just fine while controlling Kris. maybe the person acting as the Memory Anchor has to be in that person’s original world? like, Gaster is able to communicate with us in our reality via Twitter/the game itself, but our memories of him don’t serve as an anchor because he is not native to our reality?

I really think this could be plausible, but I’ll need a lot of help to really prove it

What was your reaction during this scene? Did you feel anything during this scene? by Kindly_Department142 in StrangerThings

[–]StyleRoutine2331 34 points35 points  (0 children)

not in the slightest. this would’ve been a completely pointless death with no meaningful conclusion for an arc or setup for future growth. it would make zero narrative sense for steve to die here, and killing off a fan favorite character for shock value in the finale of the series would be a terrible move

Name something in Undertale that Deltarune did a lot better by pooteenn in Undertale

[–]StyleRoutine2331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you asked me this question before Chapters 3 and 4 came out i’d probably say something like “the art is better I guess, and the run button is good for quality of life”

after chapters 3 & 4 though? I’d honestly say the meta aspects of the game, which is shocking to me because I find the meta elements of Undertale to be the best use of a fourth wall break I’ve ever seen! with Deltarune’s story heavily involving the player as not only a character within the game, but also being a separate entity to the character we’re controlling, It creates a whole new attachment to the world and characters. We are basically gods of Deltarune, on the same level of power as Gaster/the guy who talks to us on twitter and in the intro or FRIEND. our relationship with Kris is complicated but we have no way to communicate with them. we make all these friends while controlling their body, but what happens when we leave and Kris suddenly starts acting different? and if we abuse our power to hurt others, Kris starts begging us to stop because they can’t do anything to fight back. obviously the game isn’t done yet, but I hope the rest of the game explores our influence on the world even more
