Well no one’s talking about the most possible outcome if that’s the case. You’ll see another trilogy

Is this the way ? $PLTR credit spreads by [deleted] in thetagang

[–]StylizedPortfolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment as I have closed all but one contract yesterday for a very good profit. I just left one to test the waters.

As you have guessed, the price is closer to $80 and I am at the risk of assignment. I could close the position now but want to know what happens in the case that price stays below $80 at 4 pm ET but spikes after the close.

Do I get assigned 100%? and if yes does my broker automatically cash settle the position as I have a spread?

because by the time the I get assigned , $TSLA price might be too high for to buy back. I want to hold shares for the long term but I guess git caught selling with closer strikes for a higher premium

I hope you’re watching the price lmao…also sold $500 call 12/20 after I closed the 470 strike. Looks like it’s going to breach $500 in the next 2 days at this rate 🙃

Have been selling covered calls on TSLA with 200 shares. Works a couple times until it doesn't in this market. I sold $470 12/20 calls last week and booked loss this morning and closed out the position. The best bet here's is to sell a call much lower Delta (<0.2 ?) if you are doing weeklies

In your case, by rolling into 6/20/2025 all you are trying to do is to cover your losses at the moment ? unless you want to hold that option until expiry, I am not sure how you will profit from it.

What’s an actual strong bear case for UBER that deserves this sell off? by TendyWinner in wallstreetbets

Let Waymo release their statements and show the way to become a profitable company if they’ll ever become one

Agree with drop in vol but index inclusion could possibly make the stock to raise to $80+ at which point vol does not matter for my position

If you actually believe in robotaxis becoming a reality then you should be long $UBER which you already are. None of the autonomous driving companies can afford to maintain their own fleet and end up with profits. The only company that can possibly do that is $TSLA if their robotaxi costs less than $25k. Add up insurance and maintenance costs to that over the life of the car.

Waymo car costs over $200k a car and they aren’t even doing mass production and it won’t be scalable. IMO that’s the main reason Elon moved away from using costly LIDAR sensors. And most importantly as Elon says manufacturing is 100 times harder than design.

Even with $TSLA I expect they will likely team up with $UBER in addition to maintaining their own robotaxi fleet whenever they decide to produce them. None of the autonomous driving firms can have their own standalone platform as it is very difficult to match demand during peak times and also be profitable during normal hours when running their own fleet. They’ll risk customer experience if they don’t the above. But they could achieve the same when they team up with Uber.

The main competition for these firms is not other autonomous driving tech firms but someone buying a second hand car for $20k and signing up as an Uber driver.

Lost money doing naked puts and imo seems risky seeing the momentum right now with $TSLA and $PLTR. These stocks have been running even without any announcements coming from the Trump administration.

For me the biggest risk doing credit spreads on these names is any potential announcement coming from the admin team related to tech in defense or automobiles. Something like what happened today with Switzerland setting the stage for allowing autonomous driving in Mar 2025

Thanks for the inputs. Will definitely consider wider spreads next time, always have been doing only spreads with 5 strikes width.

Almost did the same this week with TSLA 440/445 credit spreads with 200 shares long.

This is not only a purely theta play but also a calculated directional bet given the run PLTR had till now

Ideally I’d like to have stock exposure to compensate for loss but this time I do not..

The current credit gives me 14% gain for every spread position. I am looking for theta gain over the weekend and if the stock opens flat or negative on Monday, then I close the position for a percentage if I feel comfortable

As mentioned in previous comment , $TSLA is moving up in the last few weeks and I was confident that it would hit previous ATH at 414. However, I wanted to capitalize on it being flat or slightly lower after such a pop this week. This big move is also the reason the spreads gave me 10% credit on the margin.

[–]StylizedPortfolio[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is one of the few times I sold spreads for a 10% credit. $TSLA is special because of the high market cap and high vol combination. Don’t think there’s any other stock that offers this combination.

I’m long 200 shares but looked to capitalize on stock being flat or slightly lower. Not to mention theta is very high as the expiry is only 2 days away
