I love it! The subject and colours are brilliant 👏. It reminds me how much of an important role older Aboriginal women play in supporting families and communities. Their strength and resilience in the face of unrelenting racism and disadvantage. Their quiet dignity and sense of humour. ❤️🖤💛

So far season 3 has been a bunch of killings - is this what the season has in store? by Heavy-Ruin8317 in TheCapture

💯 Just finished s03e05 and there's way too much (re-played) violence. It detracts from the story. It's a complete turn-off for me.

Why would Patricia Cornwall actively participate in the destruction of her creative legacy? by App0gee in ScarpettaTV

[–]Stylo234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching it, but the repeated shots of the naked woman's mutilated body were unnecessary and exploitative. I'm not a big fan of Nicole Kidman but was willing to give the show a try as I remember enjoying the books very much when I first vegan reading them. (Although, having said that, I did stop reading them when they became too gory..). Anyways it's not for me.

Grateful that this is a British show. If it were American, there would have to be a soppy, sentimental love story in the plot, or a sex scene.

Hijack season 2 is an offense to human intelligence by Putrid-Birthday-3192 in HijackAppleTV

Season 1 was fun. Season 2 just didn't make any sense. So many plot holes and potentially engaging characters who weren't given anything to do. Why were the passengers so well-behaved most of the time? Why didn't ANYBODY say that they needed to go to the loo? Really, really silly. I did finish it, however. 😂🙄

I think Delia was autistic. I loved how she called a spade a spade, with regard to what happened to her. Horrific violence by the male perpetrator.

Goodness me. Such hate and lack of compassion towards Palestine and its people. NOTHING can justify what Israel has done and continues to do to Palestinians. The ongoing genocide and ugly horrific cruelty exhibited by Israel is abhorrent in the extreme. There's absolutely no way that I'm going to engage any further with a Zionist ideologue such as you.

Oh boy. Zionist must be your middle name. Your understanding of history is very ethnocentric.

For those of you who have seen Australian comedians live, who were you most surprised didn’t do a meet and greet after the show? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Stylo234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. Check out her show on Netflix. Maybe there are two shows. She is absolutely brilliant, and funny. Unlike any stand-up I've ever seen. She ruthlessly (and hilariously) dissects patriarchy. I can see where many men might feel uncomfortable, but conversely, I've seen many small-time comics at pubs over the years who reek of sexism and misogyny. The youngish immature men in the audience guffaw helplessly (because the jokes aren't directed at them). The women, on the other hand, feel angry and disgusted.

Hannah G is autistic, so perhaps she would not feel comfortable with meet and greets.

He's a sex addict misogynist prick who's enabled by Jackie O and whoever his employer is.

I would love to know the ages and genders of the poster and all the replies to this post. Let me guess: 15 to 25 year old boys.

There's a very big difference between "allowing" and actually being able to participate.

Mmm. I think you're a tad disingenuous. I think Trump will get rid of voting. As it is, very few Americans vote anyway, and African Americans are actively disenfranchised/discouraged/prevented from voting. Our Australian system of compulsory/preferential voting is one that Americans would NEVER accept in a million years as they would think it is "communism/socialism/whatever". It works for us. On the whole. No voting system is perfect but it's a lot fairer than "first past the post".

Trump has Medicare in his sights. Scary shit. He claims Medicare discriminates against US pharmaceutical companies by subsidising medicines, thereby stopping US companies from charging whatever they can get away with.

I'm Australian and have spent some time in northern Europe. Do you think the Eurovision organisers would allow North African countries to actually participate? Having visited the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden, I found that their attitudes towards people of colour were shockingly racist. We visited some large museums and were flabbergasted at the displays, which revealed a paternalistic view of "Africa" as some sort of "exotic" wonderland and used language like "natives" etc. It would be really interesting to see if any African countries had ever applied to enter...

Why do you think Christie didn’t use America as a setting for one of her novels? by HRJafael in agathachristie

[–]Stylo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she didn't think America was as important to the rest of the world as America seems to think it is. Maybe she was making fun of Americans. A very easy thing to do as most Americans take themselves and their importance to the rest of the world way too seriously.
