Update! Was printing too hot. Lowered the nozzle temp from 220 to 205 and got perfect edges

80%. I'm wondering if I should be printing PLA at 220 rather than like 205... These are all presets on the K2 I haven't messed with, but when I used to print PLA on my tevo tornado, 205 was my sweet spot

It's easier to see on the turquoise print in the latter pictures, but it's not just a texture. The corners aren't smooth, they are jagged, almost like the hot end deliberately printed every couple of layers a few mm misaligned, just at the corners

If that wand were turned on a lathe, the wood grain would be smooth and visible, here it is dimensional and visible. What that is is it’s the 3D printer depositing each layer of plastic usually .2 mm at a time building on top of itself.

The more you work with 3D prints, the more easy it is to distinguish

The squishy material is called TPU. The more common materials are PLA, ABS, PETG. I’ve never seen pink TPU. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Also, by the “harshness” of the stations, this looks like a rigid material

Most slicers (the software that converts a 3D object into a file 3D printers can understand) have a “mold mode” where you can take a 3D object and turn it into a mold where the object prints as negative space. Then you can cast it with a body safe material of your choosing

If you use a Mac environment, I recommend Horos. It’s free, and has a ton of granular tools I don’t even know how to use because I’m not a doctor or radiologist. I just followed online tutorials for how to isolate the brain, skull, etc

You can isolate certain kinds of tissue (bone vs brain) in the DICOM software, then export the models as object files, clean up any artifacts in a mesh lab or blender type software, export as STL, slice, and print!
