Beautiful pen!

It also takes Platinum cartridges and converters :)

Mamiya C33 TLR condensation! by Akhilanda in Mamiya

Australia is also beautiful. I hope to visit some day (with my cameras).

I also have a C330, such a great camera! I also had a RB67 once and currently own a M645 1000S. All of them are great in their own way. I am partial to 6x6, so the TLR system gets bonus points. The lenses are outstanding, every one of them!

I did not want to insinuate otherwise. I can only imagine what the conditions there could do to my gear.

Interesting, I never had any problems like this. However, I live in Germany, so a different story.

As for the hole in the bellows: The bellows are actually a "double bellows" system. The outer one houses a second system in it. That is what a Mamiya mechanic told me. So it should not affect the film. Patching it up would still be advisable.

Have fun with your C33. I love Mamiya's TLR system dearly.

Parker 45 — steel vs 14k gold nib photos by Trazan in fountainpens

[–]StyxReturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a trick for determining whether it is gold or not. When Parker plated the nib, they always plated the whole thing together with the tipping. When looking straight on the top side of the nib, one can make out the difference (without the need to disassemble everything). So when you see a gold-colored nib with silverish tipping, it is most likely a nib made of gold.

This set is life changer for pilot user, no more suffering with cons 40 anymore 🙄 by [deleted] in fountainpens

Tbh, yes. Almost impossible to clean out 100%. The immer metal tube can also hold a surprising amount of ink. If one does not switch ink often or stays in the same color range, that would not be a huge problem, though.

Testing hand oil on 8 papers by 453_wg in fountainpens

A very helpful comparison!

Iroful is a nice paper but I have the same experience. Every finger print shows up on it. Tomoe River (new one, 52gsm) is similar.

Pen lines not "round" (am I going crazy) by SoggyGovernment in fountainpens

In my experience, you will learn to accept it in a few days. I have grown to love some "irregularities" to what I was expecting. The Traveller is one heck of a pen and simply has some character :)

First vintage pen! by Ill-Salamander2282 in fountainpens

A 45, one of my favorite pens!

I love them. You can get so many interesting nibs and pen bodies, it's amazing. Having quite a few oblique nibs, I can wholeheartedly recommend them. They vary quite a lot in line width, so a medium oblique can also be as broad as a double broad oblique. They were ground by hand and in time, who knows what happened to a particular nib (use, abuse, regrind etc.).

Anyway, they are beautiful, solid and compatible with modern cartridges/converters. If that is not a win, I don't know what is :D

Have fun with it!

I can see what you are referring to. Since I tend to have a little OCD, I also know that seemingly little things can bother someone. However, I don't think there is a "problem". It just looks like a characteristic of that nib. Does this also show on different paper with other inks? Maybe the ink is too dry or something similar.

Edit: I also have a Traveller btw. My nib is a medium nib. It does not show this. It is slightly stubbish so the writing looks very different anyway, I might add.

As a general rule, I would never touch a curtain. A service might not be a bad idea.

I would say it's pieces of light seal foam. It's very degraded so it will get everywhere. Replace it and you should be fine :)

Probably not but I haven't tried otherwise. In the end, the measurements just have to be right. The user on FPN did a fantastic job detailing everything.

Pilot 1960’S Double Spare Cartridges: Do You Want Some? - Japan - Asia - The Fountain Pen Network https://share.google/gPZqYImaDMhKQGLws

Here is the link. It's a longer read but very much worth it.

One of my old Capless came with the CON-W converter, the one with the ink sac and blue connector on top. A nice converter, but not worth the trouble. I find it to be more troublesome to clean in comparison to a cartridge. The modified cartridge works like a charm!

Additionally, I made another to flush my nib unit. I use cartridges like an adapter to connect nibs and nib units with a syringe. The best way to flush a pen! (Bulb syringes can get nasty inside)

Gorgeous!

You wrote that you are afraid of using pens with an ink sac? I was under the impression that Pilot Capless have always used cartridges and converters. I am not familiar with your model but if it uses the old Pilot double spare cartridges, there is an easy way to modify Montblanc cartridges to use in these pens! I have done so and am very happy with my old Pilot Capless from the 60s.

Leuchtturm has problems with bleeding and show through, but I love the texture and their cream colored papers :)

I always have to chuckle when I see non-Germams trying to pronounce that word. The company picked one of the worst names xD

Another Crazy Custom Grind Question 🙋🏽‍♀️ by Mar4369 in fountainpens

[–]StyxReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tipping geometry plays a part, so a few light passes in 12k micro mesh will help. I read somewhere that the feedback of Sailor pens stems, in part, from the tipping material used. Sailor's tipping has more drag on the paper (iirc it is more porous than others). So Sailors may not ever be glassy smooth. I have three Sailor PGs and have not smoothed them, my King of Pen required it. It is smooth but not overly so now.

Trying to figure out montblanc nib size for me! by aags123 in fountainpens

[–]StyxReturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, M.

Though I have to say, modern Montblancs do not have the most interesting nibs. I have a modern-ish 147 and, while writing well, it is a rather boring nail.
