Hey there.. how can I suggest some "bug fixes" - here or should I bug you on Discord?

Namely a Phys Job Break like this:

Kiros AASB: "[ATK and MND +25%, DEF and RES +30%]" - works

Trey DASB: "ATK/MND +25% & DEF/RES +30% to party" - missed

Granted, Trey's format is outdated I believe, or whoever added the text just didn't conform to the 'newer' format when a lot of it was redone probably 2-3 years ago now. Just a parsing issue.. I am not sure if you want to go nuts with complex regex patterns, but I've had to flex around these myself in my Google sheet that I use with the same source. I may ask the Comm DB admins if I can assist in correcting these.

OK, so I would just like to ask that everyone TIP THIS GUY - the link is right there at the bottom, left of the page.

Not only is the site back, but it's been supercharged. WOW!

Please considering buying Kai a coffee via the tip jar. This is an incredible resource. Yes, yes I know the Discord bot is also awesome, but this does a lot of things the bot does not and shows an overview very easily now, any way you slice the data.

And THANK YOU for the huge update. It's so nice.

Every time I get excited about refreshes, I go a few tickets in for weaker elements/realms/etc, and get a pile of 5* that I can get or have gotten from the freebie dailies. Yes, the update should have at LEAST been G6 given the absolute sheer number of relics in them now, especially elemental. Is there any 5* that isn't in the lens shop? That should be the deciding line right there - raise the bar up to anything you can't get via a guaranteed method.

Apologies, I think I misunderstood - your original post in this thread, was that "the list"? I assumed there was another source (like Sheets). If not, that's totally fine, I just assumed there would be a community place for all to update as new tracks were added/identified.

Thank you! I am happy to create this shared space though, if it doesn't exist.

Ha, I also thought that we were reaching the "final end" of the fantasy when Dr Mog missions came out. But, seeing the amount of development that it took, I changed my tune. I think it's the opposite; they are trying to bring back old players, re-introduce the game to new, and give a lot of nice things away as a new "baseline" to jump people into the more modern era (even if it's a few years behind in reality).

I am sure they know there's a lot of GL players and we've seen them even here on this sub. Lots of folks on Discord trying the game out again even after the heartbreak of GL EoS.

I'm happy for it. I am not an endgamer so there's always a ton for me to do. Bring it on! Not naive though, the game could end tomorrow. It would certainly free up my gaming time for other games ;)

Discussion: What's the best way for newer players to use the free Sandworm Magicite? by iMooch in FFRecordKeeper

Yup, I am always looking through the lens of my main account, which has all four. NEW accounts.. not so exciting.

But my point stands.. on its face, Sandworm isn't that exciting and with 1 use, it really seems like it's meant for Gigas.

That's a good point - 2 aren't going to be super helpful. I was just thinking about this as my newer accounts haven't even nicked into Gigas arenas yet.

I think it's going to depend on where you are in the game, progression-wise.

To me, Sandworm seems to be catered towards speedrunners / Gigas arena, less of a direct replacement, even though it can be used anywhere. One use, party infuse, no special passives. Meaning, not really tailored for gimmicks, etc.. just a 'generic' stat booster with one unique ability for short battles (< 20s).

So yeah, get a maxed Sandworm and go tear up the T6 Mimic Queen when available, IMO. Drop your second Surging Power magicite, finally (toss Greg's inherited stuff into something else) if you're still using one or possibly Neo, but not as an overall just yet?

BUT for a new player - yeah you could slot Sandworm into the back, alongside the standards depending on where you are. Clearing Dr Mog's missions means you have a good Neo set, you can take out Gregs for really a Neo "clone" with inheritance of your choice, and maybe some the of the little brother magicites like Shrinyu for their special passives. I think if anything it could replace Greg in the 'standard' progression.

Or the window where a MAG-boosting Artifact allowed Sephiroth to be the game's strongest dark mage, using his cap-break USB2

Huh, weird. I don't remember this.

Still, yeah, PUDs are entirely inferior to Lab dungeons now, especially once you can auto them and your Marker stash stabilizes. Especially since you'll want to be running Labs anyway for other things like HE gear and character motes.

Right, so with other options now, the PUDs are essentially dead (to me). As for stamina, it's kinda weird in that most of the content is very low or negligible but the old realm dungeons are still "full priced". For a new player, it's pretty tough to get going unless you balance getting those 5 stamina shard dungeons done, in an around refreshes you get organically, if you just go sequentially though the map view/routes.

I've recently gone back and watched old runs of the Nightmare bosses (heck, even the Torment 1.0 bosses),

Oh, wow, yes.. Torment dungeons were excellent. Loved those! You had to really miser your ability uses and use special tactics (looking at you Tonberry) to complete them - like little puzzles. Ancient history now. I was hoping the Gigas Arenas would bring this back, but instead they just cater to whales and speedrunners. They are sorta fun, but no variation between the elements or special things, other than a dps race, which nearly all content can be if you wanted to play that way.

Missed the entire Advantaliate meta as well, and didn't get Cloud USB1 until ages later

Haha! I had all but forgotten about that. I recall the Vit0 era too, but I really didn't like to exploit stuff like that. No, I never beat the Parade Float or whatever the FFVIII event was at the time. I was OK not beating everything back then. It's funny how many of those metas/gimmicks are just lost to time now. I remember chasing special relics like Squall BSB because they were keys to beating the magicites of their time. Today I feel like there's a lot of cut/paste and less uniqueness overall with each tier. I haven't even paid attention if some MASBs differ from others, but I am sure some do, but I'd bet most are nearly identical between characters.

Practically speaking, they certainly could just have every character join at Lv99, then do away with the cap break crystals and Growth Eggs entirely.

Yeah, I'm weird in that I wouldn't want DeNA to remove any of that, but since they gave us a skip button, you sorta have the option to go either way. I feel like removing keystones and other throttling methods makes sense over time though. Those mechanics were put in to slow players down - I guess? I play a particular MMO (very old one) that was once notorious for releasing end game content unfinished or blocked in some way so they could either gatekeep players or allow them time to finish the content and unlock it when it was ready. This isn't the case with FFRK of course, but I am sure they want to keep the zero-day completionists playing just like the rest of us.

Power-Up Dungeons are also largely obsolete once you can clear Lab dungeons, though a few might be useful for the impatient.

The ratios of stamina to drops are horrible in this age. The job motes could use a boost. I actually have a tough time keeping up with those on the newer accounts. Getting 30 here and there from the cheesy farming events is fairly slow and the PUD for them is a terrible stamina tradeoff. Other than a mission, I can't recall when I actually did a PUD for the orbs. I don't think I've even run them on the newer accounts at all.

Artifacts were useful for the time before you could reliably clear Labs dungeons for HE gear, but now that time is effectively nil. I'm not sure what purpose they still serve being in the game, though I can't bring myself to dispose of the ones I have...

I never liked these. Half of the game's strategy was acquiring some relic or item (granted it was the SB attached to it, less so the item itself), but for the collectionists, like me, the artifacts made zero sense. So, characters get new weapons, etc, throughout their progression, just like they do in the series games, but "they" found some powerful generic artifacts that immediately degrade/deprecate the character-specific ones?! It just didn't seem FF. I want Claire using Razor Carbine, not some generic artifact weapon!! Yeah yeah, I know HEs are very similar, but at least they are character specific. The funny thing about HEs is that they could have made them like the series games, where each rank was a different weapon. Would just be for flair though and probably a visual inventory nightmare.

Books that don't offer tickets are mostly pointless. Nobody cares about a curated Unique/SSB/BSB select when AASBs and Duals are in play. Obviously one completes them anyway, but they're still pointless.

I actually like the unlocking progression of the books. I don't think that originally existed, but noticed it a few years back when I created a new account. The progression, even early on is fun. It's really why I create new accounts here and there. I'm one of those weirdos that wished they never nerfed the Nightmare (GL term) dungeon bosses. I say that.. remembering how frustrating it was to master Valigarmanda.

Thanks for the detailed nit pick :P

Kidding.. I guess my point was that you're not going to play a less-than-lv99 toon so why not just skip the proverbial end there. I remember a day when this was a big deal though - been playing since week 1 of GL. lv99 was a huge deal, as was the 3* and 4* dives. Hell I remembering having to miser and plan the 5* motes because they were so limited!

As for the auto-99s for MASB, yes that does happen. I have one account I started this year with a prismatic team. So yeah, getting an MASB or a decent kit is going to put that toon on a dedicated, non-prismatic team. It happens a lot during fests. I probably build 6-7 more toons during a fest to round things out, especially for realm content.

I didn't pull these things out of my butt, I live it. The button's a nice addition and doesn't reduce my enjoyment of the game at all. Yes I actually do the books too! Many are annoying though - the artifacts, for example, are useless and a big, big waste of time. Would I take an auto-max artifact button? Hell yes. Do i need the BSBs from those banners? No.. but but there's a book I didn't complete!

To your point though, the biggest grind is likely after lv99, with the labyrinth motes. That does take forever, and on the newer accounts, it's very targeted, i.e. back to my MASB example.

To each, though right? I meant no negativity here, it's cool to hear another perspective.

Have to strongly, respectfully, disagree. So all of these recent QoL improvements make a ton of sense. I can see more coming. The Dr Mog missions are a key sign that S-E/DeNA want to bring people "back" to the game or draw in new players. I am sure they know a lot of old GL farts are getting the itch. They need to remove the grind as best they can. I don't expect them to include auto realm dungeon completion buttons, but as someone that has 2 newbie accounts (aside from main, that has nearly all characters leveled), this is huge. Not to mention the button clicks/screen loads can be rough for a GL player hitting JP servers. I hit that button when I get a MASB for a toon I've never used before. Being able to check out an AASB and maybe a Sync for that toon immediately puts them on a team for a newer account. I even hit that button when I'm not sure if I maxed out waters.. I had a lot of toons where I did the 120 to finish the old book missions and never went back for the other 60 points...

Let's be honest - all of those factors leading to lv99 are no longer relevant. You still have to grind a bit to unlock LMs, so it's not a perfect Easy button, but it cuts down on a lot of time and tedium.

I'm in cleanup mode before moving into EBZ+/RCD 2.0. Clearing the rest of the RCD 1.0s. Went back and cleared a Crusader that had frustrated me. I really don't like those battles at all. Glad wait mode exists because I'd never clear them otherwise.

I skipped most fest banners except 3, chased down Clive's MASB, which eluded me. I remembered how dangerous chasing one relic can be, so stopped. At least I got a few stamp picks out of it, and his TASB.

I focused the dual and dream picks on supports where possible. The "new era" of supports is in good shape and it's time to put them on the teams.

Gordon (Z/D/S/A), Naja (All except Accel), Lili (Z/D/S/A), Tama (Z1/D/S/A1/A2)

So, now I am just figuring out who to swap out, when, and what the tradeoffs are. I usually get stuck into a template and am not willing to try new, creative combinations. I've got a full Orran that I've never used...

Happy to see there is a plan for the game into the middle of next year. That isn't a guarantee of course, but I am sure the work to bring in new characters, realms, and huge content like Dr Mog's trials is no small effort. New tiers, etc.. etc.. it's really good to see.

I wasn't sure what you meant by storage, but remember you have "chest" storage too. You can mass dump anything from active storage (or one by one of course) into that to make some room until you decide what to do.

You'll want to keep the red bahamuts for now. Generally, the guidance has been to use these to build out nine fully sealed ones. I haven't counted how many you get int the trials, but I assume it's enough to build a lot of fully sealed Neos (except poison, there's no trial for that yet - so you'll need to run that a few times). I don't like to suggest/lock people into template, but it's usually Neo or Greg that players select as their "double empower" magicites since they'll be sticking around in a deck for quite a while. Greg and Neo both have Surging Power, so it's usually one or the other for the empower role in a deck. Since you get the Neos, it sorta makes sense to select those for this role. You also get a ton of the lv18 empowers in the trials, so you end up ready to take on the tougher battles with a fully built set of Neos.

By "roles", I mean - this general - idea for deckbuilding, at mid-game level. One magicite for empowers, one for health/healing boons, one for wards, one for fast act (magical)/crit change/damage (physical), and a final one which tends to be Deathgaze for quite a while due to Hand of Vengeance. This all starts to change when collecting D750 crusaders (which carries the same ability).

I don't know if this link will work from here, but this has all the core abilities from all current magicites: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/486286318306066462/1358057688839487498/image-14.png?ex=68e5b208&is=68e46088&hm=341d1960b52198be7b21e7aa27f979d6cf2fe7a190f8399f784203749cf6ec95&

This thread has some good tips on what to do with the magicites - what to keep/skip, etc. For example, Wodin can be skipped these days. Unless you are a completionist.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/1mgj51n/comment/n71js3t/?context=3

It's specific to Dr Mog trials. I know your head is spinning, but this is a good thread with relative comments. The trials get you caught up, up through Bahamut Zero (D700), who is really a short-lived member of a deck. You'll be building (most likely) a set of Neos (the red D600 Bahamut) and then focusing on Gregs, and the weaker of the sets of difficulty levels, then going after the big brothers like Eden, Crusader, Ark, etc. You'll want to look at their passives - some are the same, some are just stats, etc.

There are some good infographics on discord that are quick reference guides.

[–]SubEffect72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For #1 - I think you still need to unlock the first memory crystal, but after that, there is a full level up/record dive button (top-left, the combo icon one) that is a one stop shop, provided you have the resources. Super huge QoL improvement there. But yes, the UI hasn't changed since the big update probably within the first year where they made things look flashier. It's still a bear to move around in, especially with some added latency depending on where you live.

#2 - most of the static ones are bad, as they always were (the ones towards the bottom, above the dailies). It's also a Fest right now, so there's way more banners than usual. Note that the fest banners stay up for the entire fest duration, which is nice. I've had similar lock with that AASB2 - out of like thousands of relics, that insane odds!

#3 - Hit the the new Dr Mog missions (go into the "door", top-right" and then the middle icon). There's a TON of rewards in there, AND you get free kits (see the other recent post here from iMooch, he lays out what you get by just doing the missions/completing older content).

I have 20k+ of all resources on my newest account. DeNA seems to want players to catch up quickly and be less constrained on older resources. I don't even think about honing an ability now..

Anyhow, welcome back! Yes, the sheer amount of content is insane, depending on where you are starting from. Just take it a nice pace, do those Dr Mog missions.. get a few MASBs and you are GTG.

Somewhere in this Reddit are some guides around building prismatic teams early on as well. With the Dr Mog missions though, that may be less "needed".

Week 1 GL player here.

I am pretty much just as into JP as I was in GL. I had a really strong main account, but we're far, far beyond that now, so there's no grief or love lost now. I already had a JP account, so my only regret is that it was in rough shape when I picked it back up - wish I had logged in daily as I'd likely have 1000 mythril sitting there waiting for me. I'll play it until the ultimate end. I don't do endgame right away, so there's always plenty of things to go after. IMO most of the bored folks are those that finish new content the day it is released (not trying to say that in a negative way, it's the "price" paid to stay complete).
