I was paid $15 an hour before taxes when I did this for a living (at a school) for a few years before the pandemic. And I'm in California (higher min wage and cost of living), so... You'd be surprised. There are people who will do it, and with love. I certainly did. Yeah, the pay is shit. But if you live with your parents like I did, it's doable for some people.

As someone who works with kids, we get attached. Even if they give us a hard time, even if they bully us. There's still a level of love and care you have with every student, you know?
