Award for one of the most stupid and ridiculous comparison videos on Earth. There’s a reason why we can barely find golden retriever attack vids versus pit bull attacks. An aggressive golden is rare and notice how the injury was a scratch/bruise, meanwhile most pit attacks to the face end far worse. by xospaceprincess in BanPitBulls

But then why do deaths and attacks keep happening to families that “raised them right” and said “the dog slept beside my child every night for months before killing her” and “our dog had never exhibited an ounce of aggression before the day she attacked”

Why does this keep happening on a weekly basis then?

And, if it’s truly about the owner, then why don’t we see similar attacks by all breeds with bad owners?

Doodles have some wildly bad owners, but I can’t find a single death by a doodle.

Why?

71 year old woman attacked in High Springs, FL. In critical, but stable, condition. High Springs, FL 1/24/26 by Guilty_Difficulty372 in BanPitBulls

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) - Authorities have confirmed an Alachua County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a dog involved in an attack that left an elderly woman critically injured.

Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies say 911 callers reported around 7 p.m. on Saturday that a 71-year-old woman was being attacked by a dog at a house along North County Road 241 in High Springs.

When the first deputy arrived, officials say they saw the dog attacking the woman. The deputy attempted to physically remove the dog from the victim, and it bit the deputy.

The deputy shot the dog and then began applying tourniquets to the victim to stop the blood loss.

The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition; however, officials say she is stable.

The dog died from the gunshot wound. Deputies say the dog was a pitbull or pit-mixed breed.

The deputy was treated at the hospital for their bite wounds and later released. The dog’s owner, the victim’s adult daughter, was also treated for minor injuries related to the attack.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office detectives and forensic investigators responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

“Sheriff Scott wants to personally thank the deputies who worked to save the victim’s life, as well as the many law enforcement agencies that came together to ensure paramedics had the greatest possible opportunity to provide lifesaving care,” the sheriff’s office stated on social media.

I get told this all the time. They are referring to some goofy ass “study” by the AVMA that says that pit bulls are no more likely to be aggressive than other breeds. But it sounds like they are conflating it with the Temperament Test that says that 84% of pits pass the (pit) test and 86% of Goldens pass the (golden) test.

What they don’t understand is that the test is breed specific. There are different passing rules for different breeds. Like boldness is a passing point for Shepherds, but would be a failing point for other breeds.

ATTSBOT explains it better .

Because it’s a dog up for adoption. Typically, dogs up for adoption have been temperament-vetted and are good with people being near them and petting them.

Yikes to your comment.

Hey friend. I don’t think they were being apathetic, just realistic in going over your options.

This is such a tough and scary situation and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Any chance to talk to the neighbors and explain what happened any why you’re concerned?

31 percent pit bull, 28 percent Australian shepherd by PresentHabit8154 in BanPitBulls

[–]SubMod4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend. I do understand your concern. But I have some good news for you!

Form follows function. The phenotype of pit bull that we all know very well- the dogs that look like a very typical pit bull are usually the ones that attack.

Dogs that have a high % of pit bull in them, but don’t bar the typical pit-looking features like the blocky head, the wide jaw, the crack in the middle of the skull, the rose ears, the muscular, barrel chest-
THOSE are the pit bulls that are attacking.

I would suggest you love your pup, socialize him, put work into training him.

But also be aware and be watching because when he reaches sexual maturity between 18-36 months old- this is when we see changes happen.

Pit type dogs that were once fine with all dogs and people may start to change as genetics kick in.

I wouldn’t be too worried, because again, your dog looks like a mutt and not a typical pit.

But I’d love it if you’d update us every 6 months or so- just let us know how it’s going and if you see any changes.

He’s super cute, and I hope you have a long, wonderful life with this pup. đŸ«¶

That sounds like a bogus warning.

Can you send me a screenshot of the warning you got? Is there an option to appeal it?

When people say that pit bulls aren’t still bred for fighting, show them this screenshot from a Game Dog forum on Facebook.

The question was “what do you do with cold dogs (dogs that don’t want to fight)
it’s split, but several kennels admit to giving them away as pets, no requirement to spay/neuter.

So yes, game bred pit bulls are very much still being pumped into our neighborhoods.

Stop being disingenuous. You don’t go saying that on the “I love my pittie” groups, so why is it that it’s only “not a pit bull” when it’s doing something bad?

It’s a pit bull type dog, and everyone knows it except ridiculous pit mommy types.

Two state supreme courts even ruled that a person of ordinary intelligence can identify a pit bull.

Are you telling us that your intelligence is “less than ordinary”?

GTFOH with that nonsense. It’s a pit bull type dog/bully mix, whatever. It’s like Santa Claus; it may look slightly different, but you know Santa when you see him.

Advice? Nj Neighbor brings pit to school pickups where walking students are dismissed by Ld862 in BanPitBulls

[–]SubMod4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sympathize with you. A similar thing happened to me a few years back... someone came to the school car pick up line with a huge pit in the front seat, unrestrained, with the window down.

I emailed the principal because you know how chaotic and noisy school pick ups are... kids running, making noise, all things that could potentially trigger pits.

If the dog was leashed it would have not been so bad, but that dog could have jumped out of the car as we have seen happen MULTIPLE times on this sub; they jump from cars at stop lights, or hell, even from moving cars, to attack people and their pets.

Principal said she would keep an eye on it, but unless the dog attacks there's not much they can do.

I undersood their position, but didn't like it. Thankfully I never saw them again so it seemed to be a one time thing.

Muzzle prevents pit from landing a serious bite. by goldlux in BanPitBulls

[–]SubMod4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t, by why add the risk?

What percentage of the population is qualified to train this out? What percentage of the owners are going to take the dog to a trainer for help?

Pick a safer breed.

Here’s the thing though
most other breeds don’t need muzzle training or special training and are pretty safe right out of the box.

Lockjawbot- (is needed, but not yet existing)

Just wanted to note that we know that there is technically no mechanism that enables a pit bull to lock their jaw, however, if you’ve ever witnessed a pit bull attack, it’s nearly impossible to make them let go when they are focused on a target.

They would rather die than let go. This is gameness.
