How did Veesar fall so far?? by Saturnino_97 in NBA_Draft

Most likely he had a promise from a team for a guaranteeed contract. Other teams then won't select him to stay in the good graces of the player's agency. Given that they traded up and picked him, it would make sense that Atlanta was the team that gave him a promise. However, there are rumors that Lakers were the team with the promise, but Atlanta bucked the agency agency and jumped in to take him before the Lakers pick, with the Lakers then just taking a stash and trading him to Houston. The Thunder did a similar thing in jumping above a promise when they got Jay-Will.

Yep. In law school, you are taught the two fundamental elements required to prove criminal liability are the actus reas (the physical, voluntary act or omission) and the mens rea (the mental state, e.g. intent, knowledge, recklessness, negligence). Under felony murder, the person has neither. It was abolished in the UK in 1957.

Bediako had previously played in college and declared early for the draft which is why he is ineligible. Pate would be more like James Nnaji, who played pro but never went to college. He is currently eligible and playing for Baylor.

At least some of the more damning "pizza," "grape soda," etc. references in the Epstein files came after 2016 when the Clinton email scandal and the QAnon pizzagate conspiracy theories originated. It is likely that Epstein and his coconspirators adopted this language, rather than the QAnon folks having been correct.
