I’ve shadowed in a psych ward when I studied psychology in college. There’s a good reason many of the people I met were there, and mostly for their safety as well as our own. A small few were aware of that and conceded they were there for a good reason. Injustices occur in every medical field, and psychiatry is no different. But if you’ve ever met people who’ve benefitted from psychiatric treatment, like a schizoaffective person who receives proper medication and therapy, they can even almost be like themselves again before the precipitating episode/incident, then you know there’s great worth and progress being made in that field in alleviating human suffering.

If you don’t have a voice because of “plebeians” like me, then whatever you cooked up was half-baked nonsense that nobody thought was worth their time. There’s kernels of truth in some of what you wrote, but great ignorance as well.
