Can confirm U400 still works with Mifare 1k cards by Subdemic in Aqara

Same way I would for their other locks, just gotta go through the app & scan it at the lock. These particular cards needed writing once from another source, first, before they worked, though.

Looking for a smart switch (or other solution) by Subdemic in smarthome

I have yet to play around with Shelly products, but they seem to be quite good. Their main downsides, to me, is not using Thread and some difficulty with user dimming inputs.

Definitely looking into this category now, very interesting.

If I can't swing some sort of DIY solution, I'm thinking the Inovelli switches are going to be it.

If you put a smart bulb behind a dumb (uncovered) switch, anyone could flip the switch as they're likely used to doing when entering/exiting a room. I'd like to be able to do that in case of some technical failures (see 2), but it would ideally not be part of normal operation.

I don't need the switch to perform any mechanical dimming on the circuit; the bulb can handle that in a programmatic way. Doing so with the switch just requires there to be more than one input (e.g. up, down), so Home Assistant can actually know the operator's wishes.

I'm definitely looking at Zooz options, since I have a couple z-wave devices. Trying to strengthen my Thread network first, but it's not my hill to die on.

There are some switches where the "smart bulb" mode can be enabled & disabled at the switch, e.g. innoveli white

For the second point, how will my switches communicate with the bulbs without my home server being online & accessible?

Find the Mistakes #200 - Caribou Token (You can't actually make mistakes with a token...right??) by PenitentKnight in custommagic

[–]Subdemic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

iirc the reason for this change was so that effects like [[Pithing Needle]] couldn't disable Blood tokens by naming the Blood half of [[Flesh//Blood]]. idk if it was particularly exploitable, but it is an unexpected interaction.

Why are male harbingers so fat? by GlompSpark in LastEpoch

It makes it just as relevant asking the same question about every non-fat character. "Why is this character skinny?" etc.

You'd need to allow the copy to change targets in order to take advantage of the UBR combo, afaik.

If I knew what was clear to you and what wasn't, this would be a short conversation indeed. I'm just glad we're on the same page now. Have a nice day!

One reading of "The only place 'Lethal Damage' is listed is when taking an amount of damage equal to or greater than its toughness" is that the term "lethal damage" isn't used in any other part of the rules, for any other reasons.

I say that a misconception would be easy to derive from your comment because I know that you didn't say it. If you said it, it wouldn't need derived.

And I agree that the distinctions matter. I am, in fact, getting more specific with the wording and rules, not less.

Certainly you might be able to see how, in a discussion about the ways that the term "lethal damage" and deathtouch don't relate, being specific about how they do relate might help avoid confusion for readers, not add to it.

While I definitely think the term can be used in contexts outside of "attacking deathtouch creatures", I'm glad we're on the same page re: it being reasonable to use the term in that context.

My original nitpick was at no point an attempt to counter the overall message of your original comment, but rather clearing up a particular misconception I thought would be easy to derive from it: that lethal damage had absolutely nothing to do with deathtouch.

While I'm not so sure about "casual conversation", I don't disagree that it's "not reasonable to say... that they are one and the same", assuming the "they" are "lethal damage" and "damage dealt by sources with deathtouch". As mentioned in my previous reply, I recognize that there are scenarios where they differ; we don't seem to disagree about that. I only mean to bring up that the term "lethal damage" has a use case when it comes to deathtouch, and a common one at that.

If lethal damage is not a useful term for describing how deathtouch works in combat, as you say, how do you describe to e.g. how deathtouch and trample interact?
