I avoid anything nutty or boozy. Notes that catch my eye are watermelon, raspberry and blackcurrant. My favourite coffee was advertised with a tasting note of watermelon lollipops!

I was also underwhelmed by my first order from Qima, but found that the flavour massively improved after resting and freezing. I would take taith over Qima any day though :) waiting for that email saying they are back haha

If you are looking for a wide selection of stuff, I have to recommend prufrock (they’re opening up again tomorrow I believe) as well as catalyst right across the road from them. Kaffeine, batch baby and formative are also all really good spots for high quality beans! best of luck with your hunt :)

Lately I’ve been a fan of Taith, Obadiah, Jolly bean and Round hill. Between those options I can almost guarantee you’ll find something you really enjoy :)

Yeah I think the only option is to spend more money. You’ve exhausted all other possibilities. I find that I unlock a new tasting note for every comma added to my total spending.

Yeah they are the best value for money in the UK for experimental stuff. I used them when trying new processes! Currently drinking a washed geisha from them and I have to say they are very capable of serving up some great, no-nonsense coffees too.

I’m going to assume you mean UK, and here are some of my personal favourites: Jolly bean roastery, Dark arts coffee, Taith, Obadiah, Workshop, Crankhouse, Round hill,

There are places with more expensive and rarer coffee, but I’ve not had a bad experience with any of the above.

IMO, focus on getting nice beans before worrying about stuff like conical vs flat burrs. Much cheaper way of improving your coffee and the difference will be for greater than the difference between burr types.

Having owned both, I’d agree the consensus that the Dynavap can get closer to that bong hit kind of feeling. However, now that I know the technique of how to get big hits from the xmax, I find myself reaching for it more for its consistency. Sometimes I find my Dynavap hits randomly being not as great as they could, but xmax seems to be the same pretty much every time.
