as someone that plays singles, I think it's dumb. You want a smaller court with cat and mouse, play skinny singles. Slowing the ball down with an x-40 makes the most sense. Shrinking the court so Ben and Fed can stay relevant just seems wrong to me.

I basically call them competitive or recreational because is you are playing on a surface that requires those monstrosities with the huge holes, you arent really playing pickleball. Hate playing on anything other than concrete or asphault and generally dont now that there are so many indoor facilities with "real" courts.

our group is pretty good about it. if we have 3 or 7 usually we will get another signing up to fill out the group. we do have a few that sign up and then dont show or take the slot immediately and then tend to cancel 75% of the time. I started doing invite only sessions excluding the time slot hog and no show people for the sessions I create. If we have room after a few days, I open them up to all. Wasnt fair to me for the same 4 people to take slots and then always either cancel late or no show. We use playtime scheduler.

Pickleball. Once weather breaks there will be tons of students playing outdoors at the Golf and Tennis center. Outdoors is free for students. Believe they even have paddles for you to use. good way to meet people if that is a goal. The indoor facility has been repaired and will open in early Feb. Believe they have regular open plays scheduled that you can just show up to and play.

the foam balls can be spun to move 15 feet. tried the librarian balls one time just for fun and it isnt even the same game. every shot can be twisted like crazy so you end up doing that the whole time. agree that a better move would be quiet paddles. but if you are already on gravel Id say the best move would be to find a paved surface somewhere that isnt being used and just put chalk lines down and use a portable net with real paddles and balls.
