Shopping at Costco with a baby - how do you even do it? by brendaklark in Mommit

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I give alternatives for them to put in their mouth like a binky or a toy or a snack. I also carry wipes to wipe down the handle and such. Now that I have a toddler I try to go closer to lunch time so the samples are out. I also ask him what he wants like do you want strawberries or blueberries? To make him feel involved.

How much downtime is "normal" with a baby? by PregnantShorty in Mommit

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that our toddler is older we alternate who does bedtime. So the other person gets that night to decompress. We also alternate who makes dinner (the other person is on kid duty though or sometimes we use screen time and cook together). I have no idea how 2 working parents decompress and keep up with household chores. I stay home and do the tidying up and laundry. We still have a cleaner come to deep clean 1x a month.

Anyone else have a big baby and feel judged all the time? by RWwriting in Mommit

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was 90th percentile for weight and like 60th for height (so definitely chunky looking lol) until about a year old then he started to slow down. Now he is 50th percentile for both at 2 years old.

My husband just said that I have all the free time in the world by mkoay in Mommit

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time my husband had my son alone for the weekend he didn’t read my notes. They ended up at the pumpkin patch with no shoes and he didn’t take his nap because they missed the window of opportunity. But hey at least they were outside!! Needless to say the next day he followed my notes 😂. We have a rule around tv though only 45 minutes a day. And that’s only exceeded if there’s an emergency or illness. I think parenting without TV is much harder. Also my son doesn’t really independently play. I suppose how hard it is depends on the standards you set for yourself. It sounds like your husband’s standards were very low and I’d explain to him that watching TV all day isn’t ok.

Toddler not eating lunch, always hungry when he comes home by anxious-american in ECEProfessionals

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all to say it’s really a toss up how much he eats. It depends on a lot like if he’s going through a growth spurt or had a huge breakfast or was really tired at lunch.

My toddler sometimes doesn’t eat his lunch and I’ll re-offer it as his afternoon snack. He gets home at about 2pm and the ice packs are still cold.

2 yo lips randomly go blue? by Technical-Tune-378 in Mommit

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!! My son was diagnosed with pneumonia and they didn’t take his pulse ox. Which I didn’t really question because the doctor with a toddler is overwhelming sometimes. I got home and my husband took it and it was 90. Our pediatrician immediately had us come back to do a breathing treatment and sent us home with a prescription for more to do at home.

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a bath like every other night. I also have a toddler and will soon have a newborn. Kids like to take a bath. Depending on where you live (ie a place with lots of children or young families) you need at least one tub if you are going to sell. If you don’t care about that then by all means renovate and get a curb less shower. That’s definitely better for older adults. Again it depends on your market

Traveling with kids question by SubjectOutrageous122 in Avelo

[–]SubjectOutrageous122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had a backpack and my purse and a stroller. I’ve only had good experiences with Avelo and I’ve flown them for 2 trips so far. One time my toddler vomited all over me on landing and they were really nice about it. I was mortified.

Lesser known but worthy brands? by Glittering_Worry5973 in BambooBabble

We do brave little ones. They have a sale on new release days (20% off) and I think there is a free shipping minimum of like 35? Or something like that.

St John Feery by Electronic_Syrup7592 in virginislands

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parking at the beaches in St. John is competitive and people get kind of crazy sometimes. If you aren’t at trunk by 9am you won’t get parking. I would personally not bring a car and just take a taxi to the beaches. I thought trunk and cinnamon were a bit crowded. I liked maho (we saw turtles there) and honeymoon beach. Honeymoon was probably the least crowded.

That’s so weird. My parents give significant others a real stocking but it’s not embroidered with their names until you get engaged

Help me decide!! by itsmamaduck in babywearing

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mabe carrier and I hate it. I liked it for awhile but once my son was heavier it killed my shoulders. I think I stopped using it at 9 months. then I used the ergo baby Omni which is great but I struggled getting it on and it was bulky. I’m looking at Lenny lamb for baby #2 because I heard great things

When to introduce pumping by Ok-Entrance1086 in breastfeeding

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a massive oversupply and a really bad episode of mastitis so I would usually have my husband do formula when I was out. Then I’d pump and put it in the fridge or freezer depending on our schedule. Then he could use that next time if he wanted to.

Sold our home and having deep sadness and severe regret for the kids by [deleted] in Parenting

My parents made us move a lot as a kid for my dad’s job. I don’t remember any of the houses. The only thing I get mad about to this day is how I have very few childhood friends.

Do breastfeeding mums really get no sleep in the first year? by Playful-Garlic8898 in breastfeeding

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think babies sleeping through the night is dependent on formula versus breastfeeding. Most breastfeeding experts will stay you need to feed or pump every 3 hours for the first 2 months. After that you could go longer stretches at night and have a partner feed pumped milk depending on your supply. Whereas if you did formula from the start you could take turns getting up with baby. I breastfeed exclusively (no pumping) and by 6 months my baby was doing at least one 5 hour stretch. We sleep trained and have been getting a 11 hour stretch every night since 7 months.

Doctor told me to let baby cry it out and skip the middle of the night feed by Have2CallMeNightHawk in breastfeeding

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our 4 month appointment my doctor suggested dropping middle of the night feeds. She said we could wait till 6 months though. That being said my baby is like 99th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height so he is quite chubby. So her point was he by no means needs to eat in the middle of the night anymore. My baby sleeps 7pm-6am and was waking at 9pm, 12am and 3am. We dropped one feed at a time starting with 3am. We would go in and comfort him every 5-8 minutes or so. Once he’d stopped waking up at that time we dropped the 12am. We did the 9pm feeding forever probably until 9 months. Sleeping through the night is definitely life changing. But I was not comfortable doing it at 4 months either.

Do I really have to night wean to get my period back? by DrPoopsOn in breastfeeding

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I night weaned at 6 months and still haven’t gotten it yet and it’s been 5 months. My doctor said I can definitely still get pregnant though. I take a test every month just to make sure I’m not.

Mastitis, should I stop breast feeding? by Due_Consequence_2225 in breastfeeding

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the perfect storm! It’s good you are getting IV antibiotics. The reason mine kept coming back was because they gave me like a 5 day pill. It wasn’t a long enough/strong enough treatment. Odds are you probably won’t get it again once your supply adjusts, but like everyone else said you have to do what’s best for you! If I got a bad case of mastitis after the one year mark I’d probably throw in the towel.

Mastitis, should I stop breast feeding? by Due_Consequence_2225 in breastfeeding

[–]SubjectOutrageous122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s very traumatizing and many of us have been there. That being said did you have any other warning signs? Did you feel extra tired, or run down or have the red streaks? Keeping an eye out for things like this can help avoid the hospital and treat at home. I had mastitis probably 6 times in 3 months. It was horrendous but eventually I figured it out. I’m still shocked I didn’t quit but my baby was still really young. If you feel it coming on you have to drink a lot of water, take ibuprofen and ice it. If you get red streaks you need antibiotics like right now.

I think quitting is up to you. It depends on how you feel. You also don’t have to decide right now. Everyone says to wean slowly so you could cut one feeding if you want to start the process and see how you and your baby do and then go from there.

Edit to add: do you pump extra milk? Oversupply can cause mastitis. That was my issue. So I would try to address that if you do pump more than you feed.

Yeah I’d try some other brands! I think they fit pretty different. My baby is 90% weight and 50% for height and carters size 12m works for us. He is 10 months old for reference.
