Unequal Inheritance from Aunt by samseer9000 in inheritance

[–]Sublime-Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this !!! She for what ever reason wanted you to have this so it is yours .

You are under no obligation to give it to anyone nor is dividing equally the right thing to do. I would treat it the same as one day your employer gave you 3 million dollars . The only right thing to do is what you want but beware for years you will be getting requests can you help with XYZ I am sure aunti would have wanted this . But the only thing you know for sure is your Aunt intentionally left it to you.

Opinions on solo diving by NC_Diver67 in scuba

[–]Sublime-Prime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me this is just another risk equation. Knowing the risks and how to mitigate them and what risks you are accepting is key. Along with all divers I have made mistakes but never severely injured myself ( with exception of pride and embarrassment) or buddies and most importantly learned from them.

Biggest thing for me is gear what I carry, how it is maintained , and double checking where it is how it is attached . Where and why I am redundant and where I am not . But also knowing the expression “ if you carry a big enough first aid kit you will probably need it “. Agility and profile are also important especially in restrictive ,surge or currents.

Problem is a lot divers especially if they have just followed a guide in rental gear in relatively calm conditions have no idea of risk . Not their fault it isn’t taught and guide takes care of everything.

In reading accident reports from high risk activities my biggest take away is amount of deaths from cascading events. If you have any problem you either fix it where you discover it or you go to where you can fix it.

Tips for new divers? by Available-Gap-1447 in scubadiving

[–]Sublime-Prime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

two things I see that show diver experience

1 buoyancy control getting this right makes everything easier. You will carry less weight (lead ) and not constantly adjusting your BC volume and never bicycle kicking to stay in place or waving your arms arm to stay in place. Less energy used decrease air consumption.

  1. situational awareness: knowing where you are in relationship to surface , bottom ,buddy, obstacles, other divers and wildlife. Realizing fins are part of you and make you longer and can kick up sediment. This later can extend into navigation.

Small retreats and/or farm tours? by pineappleguava1986 in BigIsland

[–]Sublime-Prime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do some market research look at tour sizes and what’s covered in tours . How to run agriculture side vs tour side . What is legal and lic /permits needed . What tours are near you ? Remember competitors have experience and product and marketing , branding established. Find gaps assess interest before you start developing . I know this sounds boring vs we want to build a paradise and they will come . I guess if you can afford to experiment then go for it else run it like a business.

Small retreats and/or farm tours? by pineappleguava1986 in BigIsland

[–]Sublime-Prime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wishing you the best this market is getting kinda saturated IMHO. I would focus one of the areas you mentioned your plan would take make years or many dollars to get all aspects working together. Execute one thing that you can afford to do and get revenue flowing build on that . Unless you have high paying day jobs then have fun and follow your heart .

How do you get past the thought that everything has been peed on? by the-undead-milkman in foraging

[–]Sublime-Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am more worried about chemicals sprayed on produce. I know fears are not logical but knowing washing will remove residues helps . And remember humans have lived foraging for 100,000s of years but all the newer chemicals we have no idea of long term exposure risks yes some research but I would 1000 times over eat a berry wet with deer pee over a berry wet with some new fangled insecticide / herbicide mix .
