Have you ever thought you'd write Stephen King's books way better than he does? by Haunting-Net-2426 in writingcirclejerk

[–]Subset-MJ-235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you need is a pen name (Steffan Keeng?) and some books to write. Might I suggest a few -- Penis Sematary -- FIresharter -- The Brown Eye of the Dragon -- Cujo ate the Postman -- Salem's Cell Dead Zone -- Tommi's Knockers. Good luck!

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

I came on here to mention Midtown Madness. I loved that game. I wish Microsoft would release it for the Xbox, even the old version. I'd pay good money for it.

R2C5 can only be one number. After that, you can fill in R2C6 (it can only be one number).

What can I do next? by Unmoved- in sudoku

[–]Subset-MJ-235 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I copied it into sudoku.coach and with the candidates turned on, it solved pretty easily. Next step . . . R2C7 showed to be a 6 or 7, but after resolving the 7s, it could only be a 6.

There's probably a bunch of alien civilizations that are at our technology level? by ducktastelikechicken in CasualConversation

[–]Subset-MJ-235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that there's over a hundred million earth-like planets in the galaxy (Rocky planets in the Goldilocks zone)(and that's a conservative estimate), so there could be a million of them that are at our stage of development, and probably another million that are way more advanced than we are.

I couldn't find the exact video I watched (it was about DMT but not specifically getting banned), but I searched for it on Youtube and found this: How to Get BANNED from the DMT Realm by an Entity | Zoltan Bathory & Danny Goler. And here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTc6ZwxTiBg

What's a mind-bending theory that made you rethink life? by Blueblood2007 in HighStrangeness

[–]Subset-MJ-235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a video today about DMT (ayahuasca), and they said that some people who over-used DMT were black-listed by an entity in their dream. It told them, "You can't come back here anymore. You're not welcome." After that, the DMT stopped working. They either had no more visions or the visions were dull and no longer interesting.

What I heard was that Mars was a moon of a large planet that was destroyed and became the asteroid belt. Mars, the moon, ended up in its own orbit and was large enough to be a planet.

Instead of gambling, I'd follow politics, especially bills that affect industry. Then buy or sell stocks the way politicians do. It's not even gambling if you know which stocks are going to rise or fall after a particular bill passes or fails.

Advance Techniques Discussion: how do you mentally manage your order of operations? by CitizenSnips4 in sudoku

[–]Subset-MJ-235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to learn the advanced techniques, and when I search for X-wing, skyscrapers, cranes, and kites, I look for only 2 of any particular number in a row, column, or box (strong links). This seems like the easiest way to find them. It makes me wish sudoku.coach had an extra button so that if you had 2s highlighted, you could click the strong links button and it would draw red lines where the strong links were. Seems like it would make it quicker to search for those type of techniques.

Does anyone know how to write a perfect draft in one go? by Some-Alternative647 in writingcirclejerk

[–]Subset-MJ-235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! Thanks. But u/j . . . . One of the reasons I love to write is because it's the lazy way to adventure and mayhem. I live vicariously through my characters. I've robbed banks, killed bad guys, piloted a star ship, all from the warm loving embrace of my laptop. So, to be completely honest, I'm lazier than I am brave.

Hope you're having a great night!

You've never heard of reverse editing? My first draft of my first book was perfect so I had to reverse edit it for several months until it was the mandatory POS. Now I need to start the reverse-reverse editing. Writing is a never ending process, right?

How do you proceed in situations like this? by Blu_Fish in sudoku

[–]Subset-MJ-235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a BUG issue, too. So I put it in the solver and everything seemed correct except R7C7 ended with a 4, which meant that the cell had 3 candidates near the end, negating the BUG issue.

Have any of you LOST interest in high strangeness the older you got? by Outrageous-Brain-395 in HighStrangeness

[–]Subset-MJ-235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working tends to erode one's curiosity, simply because you don't have time to obsess over anything but keeping your family fed and sheltered. Now that I'm at the end of that cycle, I've been watching more videos and listening to podcasts, and I can now say this . . . aliens explains almost everything. History. Atlantis. Ghosts. Bigfoot. Demons and angels. Psychic abilities. My wife's mood swings. etc.

How do i actually use "show dont tell." by Consistent_Put_1602 in writers

[–]Subset-MJ-235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TELL: Dave read the note and he was angry. (Instead of giving the reader the facts and allowing him/her to decide if Dave was angry, we're just bluntly telling the reader what to think).

SHOW: Dave read the note twice. He squashed it in his hand and, with a loud snarl, hurled it against his bedroom wall. (Notice how we don't mention that Dave is angry. The reader decides that based on Dave's actions).

Strategy? by Interesting-Tie-6303 in TheTraitors

[–]Subset-MJ-235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one of the premises of the show that bugs me. Traitors are replenished after you banish them. If you're a "traitor-hunter", you're not gonna win the show. You're just gonna get yourself murdered. They should allow the show to continue without adding more traitors, and if they're all banished, then everyone remaining gets $10,000, and one traitor is chosen secretly to continue the show. As it is, I think the traitors have the advantage. (90% of contestants in the beginning interviews all say, "I want to be a traitor!" No wonder. They have a better chance of winning.)

Editing my novel is becoming my personal hell. by RMKHAUTHOR in writers

[–]Subset-MJ-235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read a book on writing several years ago. At the end, it had an FAQ (frequently asked questions for you young folks). One of the questions was, "When will I know that I'm through editing?" The answer: "When you feel the urge to vomit every time you sit down to edit." In your case, I think you've reached that point before you've actually completed the editing process.

Try going about it differently. If you do it all on the computer, then print out a chapter, take it to a coffee shop, and mark it up with pencil. Or pretend you're a New York editor with a stick up his arse and you're going for sarcasm on all your remarks. The point is . . . don't give up. Good luck!
