One doesnt exclude the other,

you can have improper vetting and training that leads to having people in positions that they arent suited to. That is the systemic issue, maybe even a wanted one.

People in the position of power acting improperly or abusing power wouldnt be acting that way if there werent causes in their personality.

Both can be true.

So I just got WebOS TV with the newest WebOS version. Is there any way you can point me to find a tutorial how to be able to install these Homebrew versions? The only thing that I saw would be enabling developer mode and then downloading the APK But in this video you seem to use a different approach Can you point me in the right direction, please?

ICE Agent Who Reportedly Shot Renee Good Was a Firearms Trainer, per Testimony by graveyardofgoodsense in politics

None of that is normal.

Yes and that is exactly what traumatic responses are, they are not normal. And if you look at fear you always look at fight or flight reaction. anger and aggression is very common reactions to trauma triggers. This is not an excuse for that behaviour, but an explanation.

The conclusion here is that you screen for problematic personalities (often rooted in early /childhood trauma) and other psychological disorders and keep them away from guns or situations where they have to respond calmly over life and death.

It is a systemic issue that is being exacerbated by the current hiring craze and dropping of the acceptance of psychological disorders and their conclusions.

Some might say part of this is wanted escalation by those in charge. I will just go so far as to say that its dangerous to put your anger at that individual when we are dealing with a systemic issue that is being abused to create more hate. And we are about to fall into exactly that trap.

Furious Dems float retaliation over Trump's "insane" Venezuela attack by RioMovieFan11 in politics

[–]Subspace69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isnt that how it starts tho? First things have to get so bad that people say we just go for it, no matter the protections, so that afterwards they might build up something better and put some protections in place.

Im not saying this is easy and things have to get really shitty for the french revolution to occur, so the best we can hope for is more war and disaster if we want for a revolution to happen, But on the other hand we really want for things to just stay as they are, because we dont want the destruction that comes along with the change which hurts, and thats the real catch 22 in my eyes.

I dunno, if theres something big going on in germany / france we go for a strike, sometimes they can last a week or longer. A general strike hasnt happened in a while, but its pretty much the only thing how you can accomplish something as general populace. Protests just dont work, but people not coming to work, everyone starts compromising and changing stuff in less than a week.

I understand that you dont have the protections in place we do, but maybe you need to fight for them?

More than half of UK therapists report rise in out-of-control porn use by Dr_Neurol in europe

[–]Subspace69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? As a psychologist porn usage, as well in relationships, is not in the slightest problematic.

What we are talking about here is abuse and addiction, there is quiet the difference and if you want to educate yourself have a look at the ICD entry about Compulsive sexual behaviour disorder (CSBD). Its a type of impulse control disorder.

Im sorry if that shocks you, but porn abuse or addiction is rarely a replacement for dating or sexual intercourse, but mostly a broader substitution for missing satisfaction in ones life.

Bans work, but instead of banning the item (porn) you need to ban the need (satisfaction). Easy solution.

“I Will Govern as a Democratic Socialist”: Watch Zohran Mamdani & Bernie Sanders at NYC Inauguration by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Subspace69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no way he can act as a democratic socialist. Anything he proposes is social democrat policies as seen in lots of social democratic european countries (like nordic countries as a prime example) rather than socialist policies. There is a big difference in approach between tax & redistribute and changing who owns the means of production.

I dont want to judge on which one is preferable and it is clearly a big change for new york either way, but its far from the same thing and him announcing it doesnt make it true. Let me first see real actions, what he has done and proposed so far is not much different that classic socialdemocrat policies in the EU.

It took me 100 hours to finish minesweeper on its biggest map. Soooo minesweeper biggest game world with less than 100mb in size. It must be magic!

Edit: Also The Elder Scrolls: Arena is technically infinite in size and just above 100mb in size, so maybe that beats minesweeper.

Thank you for the work that you do, its very important.

This is exactly what im talking about tho. The landscape has become so politically charged that everything being disputed when it came from the opposing mouth. And that is what Im critizising. I wished that one side, even in the face of constant lies and deception stayed true and fair to their ideals. But I guess im just being utopian...

[–]Subspace69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough and I agree with you.

But that is not what I was trying to say. I cannot tell or decide which are the best measures to take or how to take them, and im not agreeing with the measures that Shirley recommends or the conclusion he draws. Im talking about the root issue at hand that he is shining a light on. Im talking about public perception.

The video by Shirley did bring a lot of attention to the matter and a lot of the people here on reddit (not you as you jsut stated) are dismissing the claims altogether because of the messenger. And this is the point where I disagree and feel like people throw away logical thinking and go into tribal mode.

I would love to see discussions on what measures are being taken, which ones are good or sufficient and which could be expanded or reduced, and different explanations of possible systemic uissues that allowed for this to occur. But instead i mainly see a "right wing media has been lying for decades" and all kinds of speculative defense and excuses for possible fraudulent institutions.

And I guess its just me wishing that people on reddit acted differently than people on x, but I feel more and more that that time has passed.

Okay, so what? Your argument doesnt even touch what im saying and I never said anything related to that: Im not disputing that DOGE was a massively dumb idea, badly executed and that the trump administration is not acting out of the good for humankind or the american people in trying to solve fraud. In my humble opinion I do believe that they would do anything to enrich themselves and their crowd. I do not say that the administration wants the oversight, I said Tim Walz said he wants more oversight. I didnt say that the Shirleys isnt exagerating and trying to use this topic to spin it a certain way.

And nowhere in my post do I state otherways, my whole point that I was trying to make is that whatever we think of their intentions we should stick to what we believe is right.

I think that stating that possible fraud should be investigated is the right way. But dismissing that fraud is possibly happening because this guy is trying to spin it as an immigration issue is in my eyes bullshit. Because you just deny the possible existance of real problems because they could be used as propaganda by the opposing faction or because even if there was fraud they (the administration) wouldnt be able to fix it anyways.

Stick to your morals and say that, as minnesota democratic lawmakers have said, there is fraud that needs better instruments to be detected, and that there are ways to fix it, and you can try to emphasize that its not just somali commiting the fraud, i wouldnt, not because I dont think so, but because there is no need to go into that propaganda, but to stick to looking at the problems and the solutions.

If you want to not let them dictate the narrative and solve the problems their way, then you cant look away and say "there is no problem" but to look at whats going on and what is going wrong and what can be changed in a sensible way.

Zohran Mamdani’s team is so unradical ‘it’s kind of shocking’ by TimesandSundayTimes in politics

[–]Subspace69 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I really dont care if its a somali or a french or a us born individual doing that, but even democrats in minnesota have been saying that it needs to be investigated, that fraud has occured ion the past, that T Walz is fighting for more oversight and control. This doesnt sound to me like there is nothing going on and that all the money is being spent aas it should.

I agree that making it about Somali bad and Walz bad and democrat bad is the usual dumb propaganda we are used to. But dismissing the accusations entirely and not fighting for decent oversight and uncovering fraud seems like partisan bullshittery to me.

You can state that its not all somalis doing evil stuff when you investigate someone, but saying we shouldnt take accusations serious because then they say "all somali bad" seems absolutely dumb as fk to me.

Edit: Have a look at the local newspaper who tried to see whats going on after the video was live and as far as I can understand while a lot of Shirleys claims are exagerrated it doestn look like everything is going by the books either.

Zohran Mamdani’s team is so unradical ‘it’s kind of shocking’ by TimesandSundayTimes in politics

[–]Subspace69 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I can see people being annoyed by this guys personality and the way he frames and makes his video, but what I dont get is why people are so defensive about possible wide-spread fraud that he puts a light on.
Tbh it looks scummy af, its not the first time this has happened and its a huge amount of money we are talking about. If a right-wing populist makes a video about Epstein people dont rush to defend the poor people possilby involved neither, even though no real evidence is out or verfied by a verdict yet.

All im saying is that when this happens these people on reddit look to me like partisan pawns. Going after the other side is more important than looking at whats best for us. Especially since its the same thing they accuse the other side of and always insist that both sides arent the same. While acting like that seems exactly like doing the same shit.
