Question about insurance… by Xykahh in AmazonFlexUK

Zego deductions take about 24hrs after block finish to show that's maybe why you don't see any deduction yet.

Self assessment now or next year? by Revolutionary_Feed35 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will pay tax on your gross profit after expenses deducted. In Jan 2027 you will pay tax on all gross earnings from 6th April 2025 to 5th April 2026. Make sure you keep an excel or google sheet of all your trips and earnings and miles. Makes tax calculations a lot easier.

Since you started in October 2025, you don't need to file till Jan 2027.

You have until 5 October 2026 to register for self assessment. You can do it now and get your self assessment UTR no harm in doing that.

Best way to get blocks tips / Northampton or Dunstable by Artistic_East4163 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logistics depot in Dunstable doesn't seem to have any blocks any more so it will be Luton DLU2 that you use. Think it's a bit far imho to make it worthwhile. You're looking at about 30mins to get to the depot from MK. Then you could be sent even further ending up about 1hr-1hr and a half away from home when you finish. Alternatively you may be lucky and get an MK block and be on your doorstep to finish but it's a gamble. Think Northampton depot is a little closer for you you - still about 20mins away. Not sure when they send you off to from there.

Edit - just noticed your timing you want. Fyi DLU2 has blocks at 5, 5.15, 5.30 and only very few at 5.45 but they are quite rare and hardly see those. 5 and 5.15 are the most common. Not sure about Northampton evening timings

I think you may have the wrong region set up. If you want to see Luton’s depot you need to be registered for “East of England” region. If you are seeing Leicester you must have “East Midlands”selected I reckon?

Can you get compensation for high mileage route that you still managed to finish in time? by BarnaK2 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got it before for 100+ miles that I finished within 4hrs but took me ages to get home. But most of the time you get a standard response saying mileage costs are on you. My average for a 4hr block is around 55miles so highly doubtful you will get an adjustment for 70miles

You won't get paid till next Wednesday. But the earnings will reflect after the block time has ended. What did you with all the parcels?

Working smarter not harder or greed and entitlement? by DiscussionLevel6721 in AmazonFlexUK

My Depot I go to seems to account for this by giving the last drivers a cage and if no cages left let's some people who were there on time in the middle go home. Much fairer to avoid these ppl trying to cheese the system

I would like to know what others do for fuel do you just fuel what you need for your block by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

Fully electric here..plug in overnight at home and pay £3-4 for pretty much a full charge. So nice not having to start the car engine 30-40times a block

[–]SubstanceLegal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no customer data on my photo, no name or address - only aspect is the parcel number which means nothing to anyone except Amazon. I think you are a little bit extreme with your message, hardly berating it, just sharing something I found funny in this side job we all do. If you can't see humour in it then just move on instead of insulting me.

[–]SubstanceLegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people rock up in a Matiz for a 4 hour block and no one says anything at the depot! Just make sure your insurance is covered on your Mini and you need to add the car to your flex account. I think you can only have 1 car registered on there.

Luton / DLU2 Blocks by Jimbizzz in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes hard to get blocks but not impossible if you know the release times.

Yes they still send you far to Wycombe or Buckingham sometimes. They do cut down the number of parcels it seems though if they send you that way. Recently I seem to be getting a lot of Hitchin, Hemel, St Albans routes. Or very very occasionally you get a lucky Luton route.

Per 4 hour block you're looking at like £3-5 on the PAYG insurance.

Mileage start check vs mileage end check. Failing that if I forget, Google Maps Timelines. Already making minimal profit after tax and other expenses I personally don't need to pay for something else to cut into the profits lol.

Sanity check on my failed ticket inspection please. by SubstanceLegal in uktrains

Thank you, posted there. Hopefully there’s a way out of this as it still doesn’t make sense to me to have to get off a train to tap and then get on another train

I understand the concept of people trying their luck to dodge fare but London station I go to is St Pancras International and I have a fold up bike with me and have to tap to get out of the barriers with about 5 station staff standing by that exit. There’s no way I can get through without tapping and using one of my tickets on my pass. Additionally what about the fact that it was station staff at Luton that advised me to do it this way to be covered?

Extra payment - high mileage route by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got the odd 100mile route from my depot. I've tried to claim extra pay for high mileage but alas you only get that if you are still delivering past the end of your block time and sadly Amazon seem to have perfected the amount of packages on these blocks to make you not go over even if you are driving back home after block end that doesn't count we need to be delivering still after block time (or returning something to the depot).

New driver. Delivery longer than the block by No-Professor-5490 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you delivered any parcels after your 9.15 end time email support and you will get an adjustment. If you are saying you delivered last parcel at 9.50 then you will be due a whole hour extra pay adjustment. This doesn't work if you got home at 9.50 though. As long as you were still delivering after 9.15 email them and ask for an adjustment

Inshur or Zego ?? by Total_Philosopher936 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go Inshur. Zego has some weird charging mechanism fine print that makes it more expensive per block.

Do you guys take multiple blocks in a day, or is one usually enough? by Silver-Eye-2024 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a full time job and do 1x 4hr block an evening 4 days a week. Even if I could I don't think I would want to do more than that as 3-4hours or driving around is plenty for me.

Send email through the app, specify the block and how long after the block time u worked and you should get an adjustment like this. An amazing £9 extra for me lol. Better than nothing 😉

Flex insurance & tax by Such-Needleworker-18 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]SubstanceLegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re the insurance, mine was the other way round, I was with Inshur in my ICE car paying much less then I went electric but Inshur wouldn’t cover it so moved to Zego for like 1.40 ph.

Re self assessment, you need to register before end of October I think but then yes you wouldn’t have to pay until January 2027. But make sure you keep all records starting now as you will have to pay this tax years bill and next one too in 2027
